Judging by the crap-tastic job Sony did with their other titles (ELO), track down an old US Stan Ricker cut
It’s a perfect album really. You put it on, flip it once and repeat. Mind Bomb and Dusk are peak The The for me. The lost it a bit with the Hank Williams cover album, Johnny Marr stepping out and then shelved albums, label switch and difficulty. They are on fire with those albums though. Peak stuff in my book. I actually picked up his biography but haven’t read it yet. He’s a fascinating artist
A 2LP 45 rpm "single" of Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With a Pict.
I had an original of Ragged Glory and it was the ass end of vinyl and it was crap. crackling noise throughout even tho it was mint.
Darklands by The Jesus and Mary Chain. It was reissued back in 2013 but there aren't any available on discogs. In fact, all pressings of this album go for ridiculous prices secondhand these days. Same with Honey's Dead. Both need to receive another reissue.
Woah, just one reissue for sale on Discogs and at 50€+ not cheap! The problem with this and "Honey's Dead" is that Plain currently seems to have the vinyl rights. Which is unfortunate because even though overgeneralisation is bad, Plain is one label were I couldn't say anything positive. Honestly every Plain title I eventually compared to an original, sank without trace. So until a good company like Rhino does these, originals might be your best and safest bet. "Darklands" has been a 10€ album for a very long time. Probably for the longest time....
I paid 2.99 for a fantastic copy a few years ago, surprised it is expensive now. Honeys dead was kicking around a lot too at the time, not that I am a fan of that one. Is psychocandy rare to find now too?
You can still find copies of Psychocandy, and there are some Automatic's around too. It just seems to be Darklands and Honey's Dead that are rare. One of these days I'll unexpectedly stumble across a copy (I don't care which of the two) and I'll have to contain a whoop of joy.
The young people getting into vinyl like her and they don't have an issue paying $50 for a copy. Unlike us who remember it was a cheap album for years so shy away from such high prices. I do think COVID has distorted the market. Lots of bored people with nothing to spend their money on have treated themselves to albums. The vinyl market seems a bit mad but it's nothing compared to the comics market which has gone insane. If you have a big record or comic collection now's the time to sell them.
This is so foking true! And I totally didn't see this coming because I was expecting people to have more pressing issues. But, nope, if anything covid accelerated certain developments...
I'd like to see these four reissued, though not desperately: Terry Callier- Occasional Rain The Impressions- This Is My Country The Impressions- The Young Mods' Forgotten Story Blue Mitchell- Blue Soul
My wish CAME TRUE!!!! (or I'm a prophet .... I should change my name to Brian)!!! New Vinyl Releases! – Savatage
Mixed in with all of the Christmas and bad disco records, along with other cheesy local tripe, my VG copy of Blue Soul, which I think I have determined to be a 1966 mono repress on Jazzland, is one of my better Saturday morning, goodwill crate digging finds. It's the kind of thing that keeps us going back time and time again.
