Alex Trebek hinting at retirement from Jeopardy

Alex Trebek has hinted that he may be ready to step away from “Jeopardy,” the game show he’s hosted since 1984. He even went as far as to suggest potential replacements.

Speaking to Harvey Levin on the latest episode of “OBJECTified,” TMZ reports Trebek revealed that there’s more than a 50/50 chance he’ll step away from his hosting duties in 2020, once his contract is up.

Could just be a negotiating tactic to get even more money for his renewal.

 

He'll be 80. I'd be ready to split if I were him. I think Ken Jennings could have the job if he wants it.

 

Vanna White needs to retire, too!

 

Brad Rutter would be the more natural choice for a new host over Ken. Brad is the highest-earning Jeopardy contestant ever and is undefeated on the show. He's also an actor and TV host. He's not as famous as Ken Jennings, but he has defeated Ken on multiple occasions.

Perhaps Jeopardy should start squeezing in Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings as temporary guest hosts-
Test the waters with an on-line only version.

She looks good for 61, but...

 

They should try that goofy bartender from last year. At least he'd keep things interesting.

 

I find Ken Jennings a lot more likable than Brad.

 

What about IBM's 'Watson'?

Trebek is a surprisingly funny guy who worked for years as a Top 40 DJ in Canada. He's quick to say that he's not nearly as smart as the people who come up with the questions on Jeopardy, but he clearly enjoys the job and has the rare ability to not dominate the show and let the contestants look good.

 

Oh, I don't know.

 

A few weeks ago Alex pointed out Buzzy Cohen (a previous winner who's also appearing in this week's Championship) in the audience. He then said Buzzy wants his job, but he's not ready to retire yet.

 

That'll be the day I stop watching. I did not like Buzzy.

 

They're re-showing the Buzzy games this week. Not a fan either.

 

He was also funny in that episode of Cheers.
