I vote for Born Again by Black Sabbath. Tasteless! Supposedly Iommi loved it. It is funny in a Spinal Tap kinda way.

Ted Nugents “Love Grenade”. Not suitable for this forum…esp the pre-release version!

OP beat me to the punch. I was gonna say "don't anyone dare nominate Born Again - that's a sick cover!"

I stil lstand by that. Come on, how much more evil can you get?

Why is Born Again hated on so much? The Paranoid album cover is way stupider, imo. At least Born Again is trying to be scary (or something....it ties in with the album title, at least! :) )

I think the worst ones are the ones that are too graphic (violent, etc) or too tasteless/inappropriate to be posted in this thread.

The quasi-child pornography that served as the original cover to Scorpions' Virgin Killer, which I won't link here, is hard to beat. Not many album covers might get you arrested.

Scorpions' Virgin Killer is the winner here.

I love the Born Again cover (even though it looks a little bootleg-ish).

Yup Paranoid is pretty stupid. Born Again is pretty tasteless...it's all good, nobody is hating on baby beezelebub. If I had to guess, it's a joke, because Iommi laughed hysterically and loved it when he saw it. Like you said, it ties in with the title.

God, there are far too many other album covers that are much worse...

Kiss' Asylum comes to mind. What about Lenny Kravitz's Strut? Lame.

I can't believe RCA was even willing to print the original Virgin Killer cover.....

Yeah quite surprising...Does anyone know how many record stores or retail outlets banned it?

Yes just about all their covers are bad, especially the ones from the 70's.

Blind Faith had the Scorps beat by a number of years though, and the girl on that cover is holding an "object".

Guys, there are covers of albums that you've never seen that would turn your stomachs if you saw them. Just look up most gruesome album covers. Those would win this thread and give you nightmares.

I think it was only printed in Germany. The US cover was different. I think in was only available in the states as an import, back in the vinyl days.

Most of the Ozzy Osbourne album covers. They looked like parodies intended to entertain 12 year olds. Dracula........

Yes a lot of the black metal covers are just plain gruesome. I was sort of shooting for mainstream hard rock stuff, I should have been a bit more specific.

That is the most repugnant cover I've ever seen...thankfully I just glanced at it for the first time now before it had time to embed itself into my memory...unsee! unsee!
