I’m one of the suckers who shelled out $200+ for this upon release, after it was claimed that the 5th disc would be exclusive to the Super Deluxe and the set would only be available via the Petty, or Warner Music sites!
Mind you, I still paid considerably less than the Australian Warner Music site was stinging people for it!

 

I'm shocked by the prices on that Warner site....do they actually want to sell anything?

 

Yep, strange thing to do. Beatles and Bob Dylan don't do it. Bob could do plenty of business for the 3rd disc of Tell Tale Signs.

 

A similar thing seems to be happening with The Later Years box by Pink Floyd - every six months or so they release another part of it separately.

 

I guess it's a concern when exclusivity is promised and a premium price is paid. These things seem to happen to the early adopters or the real fans. i.e. the ones who should really have the inside running and the great deals.

 

With the Floyd set, exclusivity was never claimed, but nor did they say you could get it all separately later, so I imagine that some fans who shelled out for the expensive box are getting increasingly annoyed as more of it gets released.

 

I now have everything I want from the box! Well once the A Momentary Laps of Reason is released…. I just wish the original mix were in hi rez!

For the Petty Wildflowers Super Deluxe, the pain was piled on for the people outside the US who imported this 'US only exclusive' and then got whacked with big import taxes on top of the already hefty price and postage.

 

I got the cheap download version, plus the DSOT blu ray. I’m tempted by AMLOR as well, although I have it on the download… what can I say, it’s a nice looking box!

 

The lure of the Box Set. I know!

 

I got the DSOT box from a link here for $63.50 which I thought was a lot but it is a nice set. I love AMLOR and the 5.1 was screaming at me....

 

Do you think they called it DSOT because they thought idiots (like me) would confuse it with Dark Side of the Moon?

Australians are big on acronyms. I was in the UK a couple of years ago and mentioned the GFC and they had no idea what I was talking about ! I'm usually the one in your spot trying to work it out.

Other than Westpac all the major Banks are acronyms. ATM instead of cash point/machine it just goes on and on! I do usually write out album names but was following croquetlawns!
