Anyone else noticed the ability to find CDs and records etc by typing in the barcode on amazon is not possible anymore?
This was a great function enabling one to narrow a search down for specific releases that are not possible to differentiate on amazon reliably in any other way, or confirm the correct version was being purchased.
    Bugger!

Looks like it's only the UK site at this time. The US website is still allowing search by UPC.

Franchise Kicks has no problems, he's always using barcode search, as long as it's visible of course.

As stated previously, the U.S. site works. FYI... Amazon tested the waters recently by not listing the ASIN number on merchandise such as CDs. If you're using the barcode for CDs, the ASIN is similar, yet more specific.

    Ok thanks for the responses.
I’ve always found the UK site very accurate, but no longer works.
Whereas the US site not reliable.
Eg if I input the barcode for a Barry Diament mastered Led Zep II (075678152627) into the US site it results in the new 2014 deluxe version.
Using the above as an example is there any way to find out the ASIN of the BD LZII?
(PS I already have a copy just using this as an example)
    Thanks

    It does indeed.
    Thanks Robert C!

  9. Amazon periodically disables searching by UPC for some reason. Their search engine is still relatively crude looking for exact results - it appears to have been designed to return results of higher margin items actually sold by Amazon itself. Some older and out of print items are basically invisible to the search engine.

One trick is searching by the UPC through Google for results on Amazon.
