Living in Mexico, my options are very limited when it comes to collecting music and movies. They don’t sell physical media AT ALL where I live. So... I have to turn to Amazon. I’m trying to lessen my collection, some of my CDs are scratched and need to be replaced. I was thinking about getting rid of most of my CDs that I got that are scracthched and just buying small box. For example I had a few McCartney CDs that were scratched and I wanted to replace them with something smaller and easier to pack. I tried to find the 4CD box set of Pure McCartney continued in a small book but I found that it was only available through “3rd Party sellers” only the 2CD was available. So...since my “Band On The Run”CD was about scratched up and it has like half the album all my fav songs from the album on the 2CD edition along with other hits and rare album cuts, I thought...”why not?” I’m finding though that a lot of CDs that I want to replace Amazon not selling. on that same note, I also want to start a record collection....something I should NOT start until AFTER I get back in the states. But unfortunately when I was visiting my sister in California and I found that old record store, I couldn’t resist.... so now I have half my collection here and other half with my sister.... so...I’m running into a lot of problems. My mother and have been trying for 3 years to sell this dang house, but no one wants to buy. So we’re stuck here.

    Indeed, welcome to the site.

A lot of discs on amazon are getting phased out. I come across this all the time. Don't forget the other two resources available to you, Ebay and Discogs.

Replacing discs is a bit of a slog, especially when you find the discs have been remastered and the overall sound is worse. Don't forget to use Album list - Dynamic Range Database

I can't help with a Vinyl collection, since that's not a path I'm going to travel. If you're hard on your discs, then vinyl might not be the best choice for you. Also, if you want a lot of music, cost might be prohibitive. Only you can say.

Since you move around a bit, it strikes me that Streaming is tailor made for you - at least until you get settled.

I think I might’ve mentioned on another post I have pin drives. The thing is though is I used to keep CDs in wallets for easy packing and the move from Texas to Mexico was hard so I had to do what I had to do...☹️ Thus several CDs got scratched. It’s really hard for me to face the painful fact that I’m inno position to collect any physical media. But I’m tired of waiting to move, I want it over with so I can get on with my life and hobby.

I can't help with the move, but I really do think you should put it on the back burner for the moment, and stream. I know it's not what you want to hear, but thnk what it'll be like in the future when you are in a better position. ;)

Also... the internet is bad here. I do have music and vids on my pin drives and I even ripped DVDs on it...JUST for back up, in case I’m in a situation.....well...like a THIS! So this is good at least. I just wish there was a way when you play an album on a pin drive it would not have a 2 second gap between tracks, especially when 2 tracks sync into one another, and forget playing live albums, with those gaps they sound bad.

Don't you have an option to uncheck the added 2 second gap in whatever program you are using to put the tracks on your pin drive?

No because all I do is go to the original folder and drag (copy) the songs files from the folder on my computer (which is dead now) on to the pin drive.
