One that I like a lot is by Turkish artist Koray Kantarcioğlu called "Loopworks."
He samples some Turkish records from the 1950s and 60's, and builds upon those to end up with some beautiful, sometimes haunting, and compelling work.

Don Slepian, 'Ocean of Bliss,' a very early ambient classic (1981 iirc).

Great label. It's through them that I discovered Rhucle. Incidentally, his new one "With" on Lontano is a winner.

I listened to most of that album the other day... Really nice. I had never heard his music before.

Not exactly 'hidden', but, man, is this ever a heart-crushingly beautiful tune from an excellent collaborative album between Christian Fennesz and Ryuichi Sakamoto:

The 10 "Streams Of Consciousness" releases Dirk Serries (vidnaObmana) did a few years ago are fantastic.

    Global Communication 'Pentamerous Metamorphosis' .

This is a complete reworking and reimagined version of the 'Blood Music' album by the band Chapterhouse.

Originally released in 1993 on Dedicated Records and only available as a bonus CD bundled with the Chapterhouse album. It was rereleased as a standalone album in 1998.

This one is quite hidden. Italian musician Giorgio Robino recorded a few albums under the name Solyaris around 15 years ago, but has apparently been inactive since. The albums are long pieces, with a mixture of guitar noodling, slide guitar, some loops, all over constant drones. His website has a few songs available to listen, including this one - Have You Ever Seen A Portal?

I know little about ambient music, but I kinda think this might be an example: Birdsongs Of The Mesozoic ‎– Sonic Geology. I bought my CD edition around '88. I enjoy falling asleep listening to it.

Another one I bought back in the '90s is Bill Nelson - Practically Wired. It's really pretty too!
