what fascinated me at the time knowing it was fake, but the pain he was in was believable...bones cracking! OMG! I too would not want a CGI update...

I just got this during last month's Arrow sale and still haven't watched it. Add that to my newly acquired 4Ks of The Sting, WaterWorld, Willy Wonka and Godzilla vs Kong. Lots of fun movie nights ahead.

Great film. Funny but also horrifying. You see the man running for his life in the subway, and you are pulling for him to put more and more distance between himself and the unseen werewolf. You hear the howls but it's uncertain from how far they are emanating. As the man acsends the escalator you see the hideous werewolf enter the frame way down at the bottom...

I like how the guy runs by several posters for the movie "Dance Craze" featuring all the 2 Tone ska bands of the era:

Yes and if I'm remembering correctly doesn't he get through to his younger sister who tells him mum and dad are out, so he doesn't even really get to say goodbye properly. So a very poignant moment before we get to the climax, and by climax I'm not referring to the 'non-stop orgy' showing in the porno cinema David ends up in...

Great movie, one of my favorites. Exemplifies black humor.

Lots of funny bits. The doctor and the whole thing about dealing with Roger Matheson.

And of course Jenny enchants but the girl in the See You Next Tuesday film is rather appealing too.

Perhaps the most frightening werewolf attack in film history? The one out on the moors.

IIRC there's so music in that scene, correct? Scary as hell.

I haven't seen it in years but always loved it. It seems like it was on HBO all the time when I was a kid. We would sneak up after hours to watch it whenever it came on.

I'm sure that is right about the no music bit, which makes it even more disturbing for me... The tension is all built up just in the way the two characters, Jack and David, are behaving and talking to each other. Once they realise they are been stalked by something it really does crank up the feeling of dread that something terrible is going to happen.

I also like how at first David makes a run for it as his primal instinct is to flee and not fight, which is what most people would do in that situation. Of course his deep friendship with Jack overwhelms his primal instinct and he turns around to go back to him knowing full well that he is going back to his own doom.

    Keep off the moors!!

Funny and genuinely terrifying at times. Not an easy trick to pull off.

I can't lie, it also appeals on a subconscious level as a male fantasy of traveling abroad, meeting a beautiful exotic woman, etc. (Not so much the werewolf part, ha.)

The pub at the beginning. That's exactly like the first pub I ever drank in. The walk home through an English market town was just as perilous.
