The only flaw with the discs themseleves so far is a little pinch warp on Beatles for Sale, but doesn't hurt the playing of the disc!!!:)

Does the Blue Box have superior sound to the MFSL?

Depends on your taste. IMO yes it is a better, fuller sound

And yes, you can really tell the tube consoles from the transistor consoles. Its the vocals. Early rounder sounding, later thinner. But its still better IMHO, than MOFI's I owned or heard.:D

So I suppose with all the jumping & hooting & hollering, that you recommend this set? :D

I'll be bidding soon myself. Watch out y'all, 'cause I'm a nasty bastard sniper (well, not really, just wanted to scare you all away!) ;)

I think so, yes, though I've only heard about half the MFSL titles.

Don't forget to augment your BC-13 box with a good copy of A Collection of Beatles Oldies. I found a black/silver-label Parlophone for a few bucks and it's just as good as the black/silvers in the box ... It would have been nice if they'd included it, but it's pretty easy to find on its own.

It includes a selection of the singles-only tracks missing from the albums up to its original late-'66 release, plus several that did also appear on albums, plus the orphan (in the British catalog) "Bad Boy." Complete list:

    SIDE ONE
    1 She Loves You
    2 From Me To You
3 We Can Work It Out
    4 Help!
    5 Michelle
    6 Yesterday
    7 I Feel Fine
    8 Yellow Submarine

    SIDE TWO
    1 Can't Buy Me Love
    2 Bad Boy
    3 Day Tripper
    4 A Hard Day's Night
    5 Ticket To Ride
    6 Paperback Writer
    7 Eleanor Rigby
8 I Want To Hold Your Hand

Stereo or mono on the "Beatles Oldies"? What do you all recommend?

The black/silver-label issue (which is what I have) is only available in stereo. The only drawback to the stereo that I can think of right now is that "She Loves You" is in "fake" stereo.

I'm sure an early black/yellow-label mono would cost you more, but obviously some might prefer to shell out for it ... I've not heard one of that title myself.

I bought the stereo version of "Oldies" because the BC-13 is in stereo.

I bought Hollywood Bowl on Parlophone.

I bought Magical Mystery Tour on German Apple.

Looking for the German pressings of Red and Blue collections (found a copy on eBay and it cost me $6 including shipping... not sure if it's in good shape though... we'll see when the postman arrives).

I'll probably get the BBC collection on vinyl, and maybe I'll look for Anthologies and YS Songtrack. Only if the price is right... considering the mastering, I'm probably fine with the CDs. Unless there's something I don't know...

Then I'll start on the American releases!

The prices being asked are all over the place. What's reasonable?

    COLLECTION OF OLDIES?

Jeez, I used to have a relatively beat up (but very playable) black/yellow mono a few short years ago, but sold it for reasons I can't explain. Oh well, live and learn!

I bought mine (close to NM) on eBay for $7, IIRC. I've even seen copies in local (Massachusetts) shops from time to time, never for more than $15.

This seller, for whom I can vouch, has a M-/M- one (he just calls it "UK reissue") listed for $18. It's a few dollars more than I've seen, but when this guy says M-/M-, I've found him to be very reliable.

Or the red and blue anthologies plus te EP CD box. Hey, the latter matches your new blue box! How can you resist? :p

Hi Pablo, one could also complete the Blue Box collection with the Vinyl Singles and Vinyl EP sets which also match the box!

I can vouch for that seller also. I got my Beatles Greatest from him.

    Hello mudbone.

I've read here and elsewhere the best combo is the singles set in vinyl and the EP box on CD. I lust after a mint singles set in picture covers but would settle for green covers.

I refrained of mentioning the singles set (typically 150 US$) as Ron will feel that the more he gets the more he needs to get

Hi RFG, yes that song is in the Singles box. "I'm Down" is the flip side.
