No he didn't....he didn't mention their massive archive trashing in the mid-late 70's! :D

And if it was a plastic bag ... well, sir, you've also got yourself a vapor barrier to protect that insulation!

I saw Bobby Vinton on TV the other day. He has less wrinkles now than he had on that 1975 album cover.. lol

They did. All of the MCA catalog is now released under the Geffen Records imprint.

Well, it wasn't found in insulation, so I doubt it.

Both items are still there. Try it again.

Well, if you're talking about the Vinton thing. Don't know what that other link was.

For 15 grand you could probably get the REAL Bobby Vinton to come PAINT your house while he's singing... hell, how about clean the house and cook dinner too... that is if he could get a weekend pass from the home.

And I bet he would come in a dust jacket too. Ring wear is optional.

  15. WTF is a "dust jacket"? Does he mean the album sleeve?

So, no sleeve, buried under insulation in an attic for 30 years? And for an album that normally is worth about $.02?

This HAS to be a joke.

I looked up this record on some web sites and in M- condition (and with the "dust jacket," whatever that is) prices range from $1.68 to $7.50. One seller had it listed for $25.00, but I am discounting that as an outlier.

If it's $15,000 for an unjacketed 1975 Bobby Vinton LP on ABC, how much for an original Freewheelin' Bob Dylan with Ramblin' Gamblin' Willie, Talkin' John Birch...etc. Attic or not, I'd think that one would fetch more, even with the jacket!

Heck, for $15k I think you could get Bobby to live with you for a week! LOL! :D

Seriously though, I was almost ready to bid on this. After all, it's been in an attic for 30+ years exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold, wrapped in fiberglass with no dust cover or protection of any kind... I bet it plays beautifully! LOL!

I think we can all agree though - this treasure would almost certainly be worth less had the sleeve and album cover been with it.

A cover worn and faded from being in an attic would only serve to distract the eventual lucky winner from enjoying the STUNNING quality of the vinyl.

His phone conversation with MCA Records probably went something like this:

"Hi! I found this Bobby Vinton LP that had been under insulation in my attic for 31 years! Is this rare?"

"Um, yeah, I guess so. You don't normally find LPs under those circumstances, but -- "

"So it IS rare!!! And by the way, it's missing the dust cover!"

"Um ... wow. The record would probably be really, uh, pretty by now ... "

"You said it! So how much would you pay me for this?"

    "Um, I dunno ... a ... penny?"

"Yeah!!! A pretty penny!!! Like, $15,000???"

"What? Hey guy, I didn't say that. What I said is that I would buy it from you for -- "

"And before you say anything else, NO, I am not selling it to you! Sorry! Thanks so much!" *click*

    " ... "

What is it they say about a Bobby Vinton LP? Takes a licking and keeps on ticking? Or clicking?

Awright, awright! Whassa matta witch youse guys anyways?

Bidding closed and not one member of this here forum bid on the item. No one else did either, but what do the unwashed masses know of rare audio treasures? Members of this forum are the ones who should be "in the know" and scoop up these gems. If I didn't already have three copies myself I'da been in there swingin'.

Now we all have to live with ourselves as this rare prize goes back under the insulation.
