Of course, the seller left me retaliatory negative feedback because I "tried to return a scratched SACD." Yeah, the one he sent me that was not graded properly.

    He's a total dick.

    Keith...

We don't need sellers like this here.
And because of the seller's response with his negative feedback, I surely will not buy anything from him.

If the seller intentionally sells, or unintentionally sells something that is flawed (and doesn't reveal the flaws before the sale) the seller is responsible and needs to own up and make it right.
Otherwise, don't expect to see further sales here... this IS a community and people DO talk.

I recently received a rare HTF CD from a SHF seller here who described his disc as "M-" and what I received was really VG (really marked up with many scratches and the surface appears corroded, if I am describing this corrrectly). On top of that, the disc arrived loose in the jewel case as the teeth are unable to hold it in place. No additional bubblewrap was added inside to unsure the disc arrived in place either. Needless to say I'm disappointed, and I don't look forward to contacting the seller.

What I don't understand from some sellers here is that they don't realize many of us are "collectors" here, and we would like to not only have accurate descriptions beforehand, but also want to receive the discs in the SAME condition as before they are mailed out.

I often will not say much to a seller when a subpar or not as described disc arrives, but I choose instead to not buy from them again. I guess I will have to start giving negative feedback as Keith did, but I don't believe it is fair or right for a seller to give retaliatory negative feedback. It is usually not factual IMO.

Once that element of *trust* disappears with a seller, it is impossible to do business again.

Why not appeal? The gorts might delete his feedback as it's clearly retaliatory.

I hadn't considered that because, as I said, the Gorts try not to get involved in Classifieds disputes. It's a good suggestion, though.

The most frustrating thing I find with these situations is peoples inability to hold their hand up and say 'ya know what? I may have made a mistake on the grading' ..... in recent months I've been getting more and more poorly described discs and nobody ever wants to take it on the chin :sigh:

Favourite recent excuses include ' The customs must have done it' or the classic 'You're a liar! it was Mint when I packed it!'

We all make mistakes ... deal with it :D

Keith and others, I used to go the "Gift" route myself but have recently found a much better way. Instead of the buyer just sending the money have them pay the fee from their end and deduct the fee from the amount they send you. This way it's much much less costly to the seller. I'm not certain if this is the same for a USA to USA purchase, but it's certainly this way for international transactions from Canada to wherever and you have full recovery support of a "Goods" AKA business transaction.

You can ignore my PM Keith as I found him already.

What he doesn't get is that those of us who buy and sell frequently here know who are the frequent good buyers and who aren't. His negative feedback in the context of this story isn't going to help him and isn't going to hurt you. We know who the players are in this small community- this isn't ebay.

Thank you to those sellers that taught me early on to grade conservatively. Of course I try to treat others as I'd wish to be treated, but adding that little curve ball put the icing on the cake (enough metaphors ?).

Even my latest feedback says words to the effect of "better than described." That's what I like to find when I pop a new package open. :agree:

Just read the sale thread that's the subject of this topic, and I found many of the seller's posts unpleasant and aggressive. Just my impression :)

All good points here. I haven't bothered to look at who the seller is but I am considering doing this so I don't get screwed later.

I have asked people to send payment as a gift but stopped doing so awhile back when MYKE mentioned there were issues with doing so. They are providing a service and deserve their cut. I would prefer a system where the 3% was split between the buyer and seller but it's not set up like that. No biggy.

Ultimately, we are all here because we love music. I'd be here if I couldn't buy or sell. Hiding behind the anonymity of a forum to treat people like *** just to sell there goods is just poor form.

Good luck Keith, I hope that you get a full refund and the seller wakes up and starts treating others with respect.

I was alittle surprised that people on the forum were buying from someone with 53 posts.

The low number of posts, seemed like a red flag to me. Especially when the items weren't common CDs. Since I would think that rare items being sold on this forum would be from a music fan, thus a lot of posts.

Somebody with 53 posts and a FS thread, knows the rules alittle too well. They know the tricks of the trade, so to speak.

A really don't like the "gift" funds thru paypal. Because I like to use paypal's postage system. It's easier for me to print the postage w/tracking from paypal's online postal system. It saves me time at the post office and with labeling the package. For international deals, the "gift" makes sense to me, because the paypal system doesn't work with international mail. (and the international paypal fees are higher)

I thought the same thing. Fortunately, the seller did not have anything I wanted, but there was definitely a negative vibe in that thread.

I may be approaching my own classified dispute (sure hope not :help:)...after 4 weeks, my purchase has yet to appear...I've PM'd the seller, attached a read receipt, and even though he's been online a few times since I sent it, he has yet to open it !?!?!?

I may be opening my own Pay Pal dispute...

Quite some time ago I got a smack down from PayPal for me "allowing" buyers to pay using Gift or Money Owed as opposed to paying for goods. They said if I "allowed" it to continue they would suspend me. Scared me enough. There were even times after that when a buyer would do it without my asking them to and I would refund the money and ask that they pay for goods.

When I'm buying if I think the seller is offering a good value for the $$ then I'll kick in a little extra when I make the payment. When I'm selling I ask the buyer if they think my prices are reasonable, to kick in a little to help with the fees IF they want to. But that they are under no obligation at all to do so. Just trying to generate some positive karma and I think it does.

Couldn't agree more. I've sold on ebay (alas not on this forum - prices better in Europe!) and love it when someone says "better than expected." As buyer it's such a let-down when expecting a disc described (hopefully conservatively) as Excellent, and you tilt to the light and... scratch bonanza!! Excellent to me means you really have to look for those scratches if there are any.

I would certainly hope that the spirit of this forum extends to 99.9% of sellers here.

This seller has obviously built up the posts to get to the classifieds (says he who, once he got to 50 posts, slapped in a few burning WishToBuys!!

PayPal Netherlands offer the buyer the option to pay the fee when paying for goods, you just have to tick the appropriate box before hitting the "pay" button. I thought the same option was offered by PayPal in the United States, but I could be wrong, of course.

Fair point. At 53 posts, there is a chance the person doesn't understand our "culture".

I honestly don't pay a lot of attention to post count, so I didn't check this guy's count when I purchased the disc. When the dispute started, I happened to notice it.

    He sucks.

Just to add fuel to the fire, the seller in question just sent me a PM offering me $20 less than my asking price on a MFSL CD that I currently have listed in the Classifieds. To me, that takes some nerve, considering that my ad didn't state that I was open to offers for the CD, and I also seem to remember that making offers is against the Classified Forum's policy. FYI, I did not waste my time responding to his offer.

He did the same to me for one of my sales...he wasn't even polite about it...just stated his offer as if I were quite honored he'd make a lowball offer on my item.
