I purchased a brand new vinyl copy on Amazon for under $11. It took about two months for it to come back in stock but I finally received it in yesterday's mail. Looking around at other vinyl retailers, it seems to have been recently discontinued.
Is it the SONGTRACK, or the original Soundtrack with the orchestral music? I was going to order it from Uncle AMAZON for $11, even though not in stock, but hesitated for that uncertainty in my mind.
Definitely out of sync. I noticed this immediately upon first listen and can't stand to hear this mix as Paul sounds almost out of breath and struggling to catch up to the music. A pox on it!
Erroneous statement. If you don't own this, then you do not own a stereo version of "Only a Northern song".
I'm so confused, are we talking about the Songtrack or the Soundtrack? I like the Songtrack, never cared for the original soundtrack.
The Songtrack is the only release that contains a stereo version of "Only a Northern Song". It never been released anywhere else in stereo, before or since.
LOVE it...not a fan of remixes but that's the way to do it...really dig Nowhere Man. take the hint and do it right if gotta do it at all...
SONGTRACK ...for me worth it just got IATM...have you tried a comparison of the DVD 5.1 mixes against the new 5.1???
I love YSS - the George songs on it were a revelation after they were cleaned up a bit. I also really enjoy the "Rock Band" remixes which I find of a similar approach
Gorts should change the thread title. I loved this when it came out, and still love it today. The tasteful remixes should have been the template for the 50th Pepper.
I get confused with the different mixes of "Eleanor Rigby" available now, but the vocal(s) on that one are a tiny bit delayed from the backing strings. I don't believe the other songs had any sync issues. And this one is infinitesimal. Haven't listened in awhile, but another minor issue some folk had with YSS was the same generic reverb being applied to many of the tracks.
The YS remixes are far better than Giles remixes IMO because they are reasonably straight-forward and don't have the fake-stereo spectral effects, odd compression artifacts and other tacky crap that Giles threw at them.
Great little album. Cool tracklisting. I bought the VHS in 1999 and after I played it through my stereo, I had to go out and buy the Songtrack.
