Chris Jericho as ROH champion wanting to take out all former ROH champions leads to some great matchups besides Jericho vs Davey Richards (Richards has already commented on Twitter about it) https://twitter.com/RichardsWesley/status/1575453747148455936 Eddie Edwards Samoa Joe Roderick Strong (If is WWE deal is up) Christopher Daniels Jay Briscoe Dalton Castle RUSH Jay Lethal Finally I'm guessing it will lead to Jericho vs Adam Cole Or if he comes back Jericho vs Punk
I think wrestling is only a side gig for him now as he's a paramedic. Same thing for Alex Shelley, who is a physical therapist who only wrestles on the side now.
Jim Ross, is this you? I don't think Danielson beats Jericho in Toronto for the belt, and I'm not sure Danielson wants to be a champion as I think he just wants to go out and have great matches and doesn't care to do jobs. I think this Jericho/ROH challenge goes for awhile and ends with Adam Cole or Samoa Joe beating him. Cole is the only 3 time champion and Joe has the longest ROH title reign.
well TNA might have stopped pushing Raven after 2006 as a main eventer but he is getting into the TNA HOF this month
From all the modern interviews on YouTube it seems that these wrestlers were among the toughest and most feared, who could legitimately hurt guys: Andre the Giant (by sheer size alone) Dick Slater Meng The Iron Sheik Dan Severn Ken Shamrock Ronnie Garvin Rick Steiner Scott Steiner Harley Race Bob Backlund Danny Hodge Billy Robinson Blackjack Mulligan Devon Nicholson Brock Lesnar Interestingly these wrestlers seldom get mentioned in that context: Hulk Hogan Ric Flair Dusty Rhodes The Sheik (Ed Farhat) Of course all wrestlers were tough, but most didn't intimidate other wrestlers. They were there to work, get paid, etc. The guys in the 1st list could stretch guys six ways from Sunday.
Haku and Meng were the same person, so he was listed. That list looks about right, and I agree that Rick Rude should have been on it. I would imagine anyone who could legit wrestle could easily disable someone in a fight and bend them into a pretzel. I have never heard anyone mention Bryan Danielson as one of the true tough guys, but I would guess he could easily do the above.
Let's not forget King Tonga. I know Sabu. Just no. He can survive a lot of abuse. Ed Farhat? Again no more than any pro. He just scared people to death. I will put forward Dick(the Bruiser) Afflis. Well known for his out of ring brawls. One day we can talk about his barroom fight with Alex Karras(Mongo)
Good call on Bad News since he was an Olympian in judo. Jesse Ventura was a Navy Seal prior to being a wrestler, so I assume he could be on the list.
Interestingly I haven't come across any shoot videos where someone mentions Jesse Ventura being feared in the locker room. It's always Haku, Dick Slater, etc. The same names pop up again and again. Ole Anderson was hated by many wrestlers, and he stretched fans who wanted to become wrestlers, but even he isn't mentioned as being feared by other wrestlers. Just hated!
Ole was apparently as diplomatic as a brick to deal with a promoter or booker, so most people came away not liking him. Ricky Steamboat is returning to the ring. Ricky Steamboat teaming with FTR in return match
I know they aren’t as skilled as undertaker, Vader or Bam Bam but anyone else enjoy one man gang and big boss man?
Big Boss Man was great. Very agile for a big man. His face turn in 1990 out of nowhere was pretty wild and a great twist at the time, but he was much better as a heel. I never thought much of One Man Gang.
Yep. Big fan of Bubba/Boss Man. He was very entertaining to watch. Had amazing agility for a man his size. His steel cage match with Hogan is one of my favorites. I saw Gang vs King Kong Bundy in Troy NY as a kid. Ended in double DQ. I was in awe of Bundy's size. He was like a human wall with legs. Gang was cool. Akeem gimmick was silly but fun. But he was always One Man Gang to me.
Bossman was great. He made 89 Hogan have great matches and that wasn't easy. He doesn't get enough credit for how quickly he went from rookie jobber to convincing main eventer. Gang was good in the UWF, but Watts made everyone work hard. That said Gang beating Terry Gordy for the UWF title was a bad idea. Somehow Gang got the UWF title and the WCW US title in matches via forfeit and reverse decision.
