IMO Jack was a broken man by then. Kev chooses to remember his father as he was. I would never wish Jack Adkisson's life at that point on anyone. Losing five sons, three by suicide, losing his business and finally Doris filing for divorce. She couldn't live with him anymore. A broken man. A broken tough guy.
I agree, but he wasn't a broken man when he was exploiting the deaths of his kids, doing the constant bait and switch with when Kerry was coming back in 86 & 87 as well as his fake heart attack angle which kinda killed the fans belief in the Von Erich's. He was broken at the end, but a lot of his decisions and oversights lead to that fate. That said World Class 83-84 is up there with Crockett 85-88 & Mid South/UWF 84-86 as the hottest territories ever.
Culminating in Kerry Vs Flair at the Cotton Bowl. Fritz was fighting a battle he couldn't win. He and his promotion were being swept just like everybody else by 86. Hiring Ricky Vaughn to be a Von Erich was stupid. He was FROM there, even though he had worked in Portland. People he went to school with outed him. Kayefabe can't cover dumb moves.
Even 85 had some great stuff with Gino & Adams as the Dynamic Duo, but it wasn't the same after I'd say the July 4th show of 84. That was kind of the end of the Von Erich vs Freebirds war until they brought it back in 86 for a bit.
Yes , that was my main problem with the episode. How do you do a "doc" of WCCW and not cover, all of the tragedy that followed Fritz and his kids.
yes, I thought the "panel" was one of the better ones the glaring omission of Mr Wrestling II , was my only complaint
Well a couple of things. II is dead & he really never worked much for Crockett. He was more of an Atlanta.
you are correct , when I was a kid, we had both shows syndicated , and they aired back to back on Saturday, on a channel that didn't have either WWWf Shows and it was so odd , watching them back to back , and seeing the same wrestlers on both shows , a lot of the times likewise the same channel aired Florida Championship Wrestling on Sunday and seeing Gordon Solie , really blurred all 3 territories into one big territory esp, on a given weekend you could see the NWA Champion on all 3 shows
Lee vs Taylor will be good. AEW needs to do a better job with backstories. Taylor makes his debut and they do nothing to explain who Shane Taylor is and that they used to be partners . They just assume the audience follows everything a bit too much. Glad to see Juice Robinson back as well.
It will be good, but it didn't need that stip. They should have gone 2 out of 3 falls or street fight. Nobody was running from anyone so no need to tie them to each other.
i do agree with that part. i really think TB are silly at this point not letting people physically appear for something from a decade ago. the entire crowd roared and cheered when they got mentioned right there on tv for all to hear
They just did 2 out of 3 at the last ROH PPV. But I do agree, this kinda needs to be the blowoff for this series. It’s basically anchored every ROH PPV since Khan purchased it.
I meant one of those two out of 3 where the 1st match of the night is a regular match, second a street fight and the 3rd a cage. In my post surgery haze I apparently half worded my response. Triple H and The Rock did it on PPV once and this feud would be fun for that. I don't see the need for the dog collar chain as that generally is used when one person is running from another. These two teams don't run.
