The sacrifices one makes for one's child has its limits. (Kidding, I don't really hate Octopus Garden).
This was my "Green" album...I made LULLA-BEATLES: Fab Songs To Help You Sleep for our bedside boombox: A Beginning (George Martin from YS) Golden Slumbers (fade's a bit too abrupt at the end, though; covered it with a bit of reverb) I Will / In My Life / Words Of Love / You've Got To Hide Your Love Away / Blackbird - (tied together in one track) If I Fell / Mother Nature's Son / Yesterday - (tied together in one track) 'Til There Was You / Here, There And Everywhere - (tied together in one track) I'm So Tired / Within You, Without You / Because (a cappella segueing into, then back out of, traditional version) - tied together in one track Girl / To Know Her Is To Love Her - (tied together in one track) Norwegian Wood / Across The Universe (w/o FX) / Something (George's demo: Anthology) - (tied together in one track) I'll Follow The Sun / All Things Must Pass (Beatles demo II) / Sun King / And I Love Her - (tied together in one track) The Long & Winding Road (Anthology mix) While My Guitar Gently Weeps (George's demo) / Goodnight - (tied together in one track) What made it for me, was the unconventional versions, and the Adobe-Audition-enabled segues.

Also, made a two-disc comp covering the years following the classic 1973-1984 era. (Tunnel of Love belongs in that era based on quality, but thematically it fits with this one since it wasn't really done with the E Street Band and, like his next two albums, deals with married life.) Almost but it didn't make the final cut. Magic was pretty tough to cut down, but to me it's one of the few keepers Springsteen's made post-Tunnel of Love, so it was more important to make space for stuff I wouldn't otherwise have. I almost skipped the Seeger Sessions altogether, but I wanted to have every album covered. "O Mary Don't You Weep" might've been a better track but the 6+ minute length made it tough to fit in.

This is really cool. Once I get Western Stars, I think I'll recreate this! I made a 6CD Springsteen set some years ago, which stopped at whatever was the latest album at the time (could have even been as far back as Workin On A Dream), so there's at least a couple or three since then to acquaint myself with. EG.
Made this to fill the so-called "amnesia" years (after John Wesley Harding) when Dylan was writing a whole lot less and he became more focused on domestic life. Ends with his full-fledged reunion with the Band as well as a few songs that set the stage for Blood on the Tracks. An early 1970s Amon Düül II double album wot floats my boat.. Side 1: Yeti (1970) Side 1 Side 2: Yeti (1970) Side 2 Side 3: Tanz Der Lemminge (1971) Side 2 Side 4: Rattlesnakeplumcake / Between the Eyes / Light / Lemmingmania (2 x 1970-71 non album 45s). The real Sides 3 & 4 of Yeti and Sides 1, 3 & 4 of Tanz are a bit noodly for my cup of tea. But their other Sides are right up my street. The much-maligned Tanz album on Side 2 has the sublime Renate Knaup-Lothar Meid sequence of Riding on a Cloud / Paralyzed Paradise / HG Wells Take-Off, and Sides 1 & 2 of Yeti are just the business.
I've gotten a lot of pleasure from this 2-CDR set. It's a non-chronological 'Best Of' compilation of post-Syd PF, up through Atom Heart Mother. It definitely does not encompass the range of what NRBQ is about and focuses on their songs that are closer to the mold of traditional pop songs. I sort of envision this as something any rock fan would find accessible and fall in love with at least a few tracks. It is arranged chronologically and only includes albums during Al Anderson tenure with the band (1971-1994). I mainly chose to include rockers and ballads with just a few deeper cuts or slightly quirky tracks to give a feel of what else the band can get up to.

Just did this Dylan one to accommodate Murder Most Foul. These are all tracks which were not released on his proper albums, from 1989 to 2020. All songs are written by him too. This is not remotely recent, but since I just came across this thread, I'm posting it here - even though I recently posted it to a SMiLE-specific thread. Ages ago I made a compilation on my consumer "music CD-R" recorder. It was no attempt to recreate whatever the album may have been; just my favorite officially released (prior to The Smile Sessions box) stuff from SMiLE & Smiley Smile sessions in the best sequence I could assemble, which I called "Smiley While" and burned to disc and which, over the next many years, I shared with astonished friends. Eventually I wrote a blog post about this wonderful music, made a front and back cover to post, even got (almost) the entire sequence up on the now defunct Grooveshark for anyone wishing to hear it, and directed folks who wanted to buy the tracks to 7Digital- the only online store I could find that (at the time of the post) had everything (as 320 kbps mp3 files). I still like listening to this better than the box or any of the boots. I still like my cover, too. Here's the post: Library Industries: Smiley While Here are the selections, w/ sources listed: 01} Heroes And Villians (demo w/ Van Dyke Parks) 2:23 from "Endless Harmony Soundtrack" 02} Fall Breaks And Back To Winter (Woody Woodpecker Symphony) 2:18 from 2001 "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey" twofer # 03} She's Goin' Bald 2:17 from 2001 "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey" twofer ^ 04} Little Pad 2:29 from 2001 "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey" twofer # 05} Vegetables Promo 0:55 from "Hawthorne, CA: Birthplace Of A Musical Legacy" (Disc 2) 06} Cabinessence (Track Only) 3:58 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 5) 07} Heroes And Villians 3:37 from 2001 "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey" twofer 08} Wind Chimes 2:33 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 09} Heroes And Villians (intro) 0:36 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 10} Surf's Up (track only) 1:41 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 5) 11} With Me Tonight 2:17 from 2001 "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey" twofer # 12} Gettin' Hungry 2:27 from 2001 "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey" twofer ~ 13} Whistle In 1:05 from 2001 "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey" twofer # 14} Our Prayer 1:07 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) # 15} Heroes And Villians (alternate version) 2:57 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 16} Heroes And Villians (sections) 6:41 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 17} Wonderful 2:03 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 18} Cabinessence 3:32 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 19} Do You Like Worms 4:01 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 20} Vegetables 3:30 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 21} I Love To Say Da Da 1:35 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) # 22} Surf's Up 3:39 from "Good Vibrations: Thirty Years Of The Beach Boys" (Disc 2) 23} You're Welcome 1:07 from 2001 "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey" twofer # all songs by Brian Wilson/Van Dyke Parks except # by Brian Wilson; ^ by B. Just posted this over in another thread, where I reminded myself I have been meaning to make this playlist for a long time. These are the originally released Creedence LP tracks that didn't land on Chronicle, Vol. 1 or Chronicle, Vol. 2. I'm callin' it… Creedence Unchronicled Creedence Clearwater Revival: "The Working Man" "Ninety-Nine and a Half (Won't Do)" "Get Down Woman" "Porterville" “Gloomy" Bayou Country: "Bootleg" "Graveyard Train" "Penthouse Pauper" "Keep on Chooglin'" Green River: "Cross-Tie Walker" "Sinister Purpose" Willy and the Poor Boys: "Poorboy Shuffle" (instrumental) "Feelin' Blue" "Side o' the Road" (instrumental) "Effigy" Cosmo's Factory: "Ramble Tamble" "Ooby Dooby" Pendulum: "Sailor's Lament" "Chameleon" "Rude Awakening #2" (instrumental) Mardi Gras: "Take It Like a Friend" "Need Someone to Hold" "Tearin' Up the Country" "What Are You Gonna Do" "Sail Away" "Door to Door" (I think an actual listenable playlist that were to include all these tracks would need to mix in all those Mardi Gras tracks between the Fogerty numbers, and even then it could be a challenge.)
