do you have “For Michael Ripps” from Riley’s site?

    not happy with pressing

No I don’t. Deep Fried Grandeur is also from Husky Pants Records, and the pressing is excellent. Dead quiet, no pops, great sound dynamics, flat, slightly off centered.
My understanding is that some of the Ryley pressings on Dead Oceans aren’t that good, so pleasantly surprised with this one.

New album COURSE IN FABLE comes out April 2nd.

Great cover art! Guess he's no longer signed to Dead Oceans.

Not totally loving the first song but can't wait to hear the whole thing.

This came up on Pitchfork a couple of days ago. Anyone know what the picture is about. A big Genesis fan?

Good news. And pressed at Record Industry, that’s very promising.

I got this at my local; it is a very challenging listen. Not like his other solo Lps, much more a collaboration, with KM, all instrumental, one track each side, about 18 minutes long. I like side one more than side two. Might file this one under ¨RW completists only....¨

I tried to order Ryley´s For Michael Ripps Lp from my local, but they got in the Deep Fried Granduer instead.

What is the For Michael Ripps Lp like?

I have "Bird Bath" on cassette but have no player. Is it worth the effort to get a transfer or is it just weird guitar noodling to earn some dollars during lockdown (I only bought it to support the artist). Love all his other stuff. Nice fella too

I have most of Walker’s albums, listen to ‘Golden Sings That Have Been Sung’ the most. ‘The Roundabout’ is a great song with a pretty cool video.

I have most of them too, and he signed the early ones for me--a very nice dude, and I don´t spin them enough. Golden Sings... is a grand, bold record, but also very deep and dark. I still rate the Warm Green Musical Hills of Primrose Green as his best, so far, but I have not got Ryley´s new one yet!

'golden sings' is great. It has a bit of a late period talk talk influence as well.

Having seen him three times he's better live in fact those with us didn't realise he'd come on stage.

I've got the new album but haven't had time to listen yet, feedback coming soon.

I saw him live at a very small venue in Pocklington, East Yorkshire UK, back in 2017. He was really very good and engaged well with the audience. The venue was so small that you could just talk with him without raising your voice, nice!

If you mean Course In Fable then it's shipping out from Husky Pants already - I have it and it arrived in the UK a week or two ago.

And it's worth getting as I like it a lot.

Hmmm according to Course In Fable, by Ryley Walker it ships at the end of April. Shipping from the states is very expensive so looking to buy it locally if possible

He is Tim Buckley’s representative on earth.

A measure of ‘self-indulgence’ is built into what he does. If you don’t like people who ‘go off on one’ , you won’t like Ryley Walker (or Tim Buckley).

I’ve heard his albums (but don’t own them) and have seen him live. I’d say he’s better live than on record.

Not really getting into this on first listen

Did notice that during Clad With Bunk the band are basically playing the BBC snooker theme. Was hoping for the guitar solo too but never happened

Primrose Green is my fave by a mile. I wish he explored that vibe a bit more extensively before he moved on. I adore his voice!
