Bit of a late bloomer but I'm liking what I hear. As a teen I was listening to a lot of the more underground and traditional bands and the scene fans were pretty hostile towards bands like Slipknot. From what I've seen on music discussion groups online in recent years it at least appears on a surface level that folks are a bit less insular in their musical tastes compared to a couple decades ago.
i'm shaking right now....this is way too dang soon!!!! was still hoping/waiting for that Vimic album to be released and for possible more Murderdolls and of course to get back with Slipknot at least as a guest here and there or something. my heart hurts right now.....
REST IN PEACE JOEY! You will be missed, such an influential and frankly amazing drummer. My prayers and condolences to his poor family.
just bought tickets to see the band this summer for only $100 to take myself, my wife and my son plus a parking ticket. not the best seats, but still not lawn seats even. not bad!!! i hope they do a tribute to Joey at these shows!! They better!
Saw them last year in London just before the pandemic kicked off. The last gig I went to! Utterly fantastic night and performance.
Hi guys! New to the forum but old time Slipknot fan. Been listening to their records since high school and still do. Was heartbroken to know Joey passed away. Me and my friend recently made a cover for Duality as a tribute to the band, hope it's okay to share it here:
This is one of my favourite albums of all time, and I'm normally into female vocals and soft rock. It just goes so hard, and I think it's genuinely heavy (people have scoffed at me for saying this before)
Probably not at this point, it would have been perfect for the 20th Anniversary of the album which was in August. Iowa is their best album, imo, but I'm a fan of the first three.
i thought i read somewhere that once they are 100% done with Roadrunner Records that they will plan to do a reissue campaign for older albums on vinyl. i'm sure it'll happen in a couple of years. i want mostly for them to FINALLY release that other half of All Hope is Gone album sessions. Where it was just 4 or 5 of them and the songs were mostly mellow and weird, like the bonus track "Till We Die". They said it's all ready to go and even said it was going to be coming out last year and this year (probably), but still nothing.
Cheers. I'm a bigger fan or pre Iowa but still like and listen to anything. Saw them in '99 or 2000, they were brilliant.
Favorite record is a real toss up between Iowa and Vol 3 but I'm goin to go with Vol 3. As far as masks go I really loved the Vol 3 era. Favourite track? To hard to determine right now. I'm still a fan but only from Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat til All Hope Is Gone.
1. Iowa 2. Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses 3. .5 The Gray Chapter (don't count them out without Paul or Joey....this album has 2 of my top 5 songs of theirs on it easily) 4. All Hope Is Gone 5. Slipknot 6. We Are Not Your Kind 7. Mate Feed Kill Repeat (i know it's more of a demo and they don't consider it to be a real album, but i still rank it with the rest)
What do you guys think of cuts like Gently/Skin Ticket/Iowa/The Virus of Life? I think they excel at the creepy stuff.
well with Gently, i would say i quite like it as it's my #1 favorite song of theirs. the other 3 are also quite good, not in my top few, but still very good songs.
Been seeing a bit of a debate about Iowa lately...some say it's genuinely a very heavy album, whilst others state it's only heavy next to nu metal. What do you think here?
