Store is now in Santa Barbara, in the Goodland Hotel.

(I wonder if they skipped out on their rent in Venice?)

Clicking on that link was a mistake. Now I seem to be getting a VNYL ad in most pages I visit. Grrrrr.

that's really more Goleta than Santa Barbara (as their monthly rent will indicate). and for as odd as the decision to move 100 miles north is, I would imagine they're targeting the hipster UCSB/IV crowd now.

also, why anyone would willingly agree to pre-order anything from these folks is one of life's great mysteries

I am told , you have to see the new store to believe it, i had a friend make a special trip today, as he lives in the immediate-area. The vibe seemed to be "renting" records and/or turntables or something to that affect, it was hard for my friend to understand what the deal was, as everyone just seemed to talk in "circles". The pricing was way to restrictive to actually buy a record. He had to get out of there , as they were giving him a headache. I will be out on the WC in 3 weeks, so he is going to take me , so I can experience just what he was trying to explain. They also do not allow any pics inside. Can't wait!!

Didn't this whole hilarious trainwreck begin with the conundrum that renting records (the basis of VNYL's entire business model) is illegal in the USA? Have we already arrived back at the beginning of the rollercoaster ride? (No, I'm not going to get off - I'm having too much fun!)

I don't think your friend was in the right spot. New store is in a hotel lobby so you can take records back to your room. There are a lot of pictures on Instagram.

Nothing screams pointless hipsterism like renting a used scratchy record to take up to your hotel room where you can play it on a Crosley player that offers sound worse than any modern mp3 player with any pair of $15 earbuds.

Please report your findings! Mainly I'm just wondering if you "rented" any Pablo Cruise albums.

What's with that turntable? I see zero information on it, only a preorder link. That should help with sales.

    ....Or not

It comes with a page to color. WTF? How exciting, "Like, OMG".
    "OMG"
    "OMG"
    "OMG"

She is waiting for them to send her a specific record. Says she's too cheap to just buy it. How does that make any sense?
