Anyone notice the cheap black-triangle Abbey Road CDs on eBay recently?

EBay is more concerned with things like Endangered species. My brother put a stuffed red tail hawk up for auction. In two days the auction was pulled and he was suspended for 3 - 6 months. It must have been a fake raptor :)

Very disappointing, but it is all about the allmighty dollar with Ebay.

    Hmm...Ice-T is my favorite raptor.

  7. I bid on an Abbey Road Black Triangle disc yesterday. Today, I discovered this forum. I have since written an email to "iluvkaykay" requesting he cancel my bid. I also filled out a bid retraction form. Good grief!

If anyone has a real Black Triangle disc for sale, I'd be interested. I don't need a sealed copy or one with an obi strip. FYI, I have a real Black Triangle copy of Wings Greatest and it sounds sweet (although there is a good deal of tape hiss during "With a Little Luck.")

Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear that you canceled your bid with iluvkaykay. It's amazing that eBay continues to let him swindle people.

As for Wings Greatest, I too have the black-triangle disc, and it is wonderful. The hiss on "With a Little Luck" is a good thing. The mastering engineer didn't use no-noise or any of that nonsense. The music breathes. :)

I am glad to here you benefited from our posts on the Abbey Road CD. That seller has been getting away with selling bogus CDs for too long. God only knows we have tried to get "iluvkaykay" kicked off eBay, but without any luck.

Welcome to the forum! You will find threads on all kinds of great sounding CDs here!

  10. Yes! Good way to put it. The hiss does not bother me at all. The black triangle disc is really the only place to get a good sounding version of Live & Let Die (make that a Great sounding version). The other releases (Wingspan, et al.) have been no-noised to death!

I do have to say that with the amount of hiss the engineer removed from "With a Little Luck" on the London Town, and even more so, on the Wingspan CD (zero audible hiss), I'm surprised the track doesn't sound worse than it does!

I also have the Polydor West German pressing of Milk & Honey. I'm not sure if that is rare or desireable, but it sounds good to my ears.

    Welcome aboard!

I personally think Live & Let Die on the Wings Over America, 1st pressing (USA), sounds fantastic with no NR at all.

Hang onto that Milk & Honey!
