Someone should release a Zep box that contains every track that they ever recorded/have had commercially released and issue them all as single sided cassingles.
“Now here’s the capsulized “audiophile press” review: "Quite clearly and obviously this new UHQR Kind of Blue sourced from Bernie Grundman’s 1995 “live” mix from the 3 track master, directly to lacquer sounds best compared to two early “6-Eyes”, Classic’s own double 180g set and that label's single-sided 45rpm set, and Mobile Fidelity’s double 45 boxed edition, to which I compared the UHQR.””
Actually it's little different to playing any 45 rpm. You just put another disc on instead of flipping. It's no different than any boxed edition to me in I'm less likely to play them due to having to get the box out of my storage crates and then having to open it. UHQR / One Steps etc have basically the same issue. A gatefold sleeve would be much better and make them more affordable. If I did own that crate and it is $10,000 it would be up for sale!
I really like Fremer and he admits he changes his opinion, although not entirely voluntary. A few years ago I asked about his opposite statements about the reissues of KoB by Classic Records and Absolute Analog. This was his reply: would you like me to hold you to what you said and/or wrote in the year 2000? That was oh, 15 years ago, and guess what? I was wrong! Unfortunately, he did not compare the UHQR with the Absolute Analogue. I prefer the Absolute Analogue to my Classics (33, 33 blue, 45) and the Mofi.
I placed my order with AS on May 8 and received an order number of 722XXX. The current status obviously is “Back Ordered.”
A customer support staff member has replied to your support request with the following response: Hello, I do apologize but at this time we are still calculating and allocating orders currently and we are unable to confirm nor deny if you are indeed part of the first 6000. Thank you, Bud, Customer Service Manager My god it's Watergate 2
LOL I'd imagine they're getting pretty sick of phone calls and emails. Have to get a little creative to break up the monotony.
Called to check on my order. It was placed on May 3rd around 10AM EDT. Order number 116xxx. Said I would get mine in first wave.
716xxx from an order fairly early on May 3rd. Still listed as backordered and no charge. Need to get ahold of Bud to ride that first wave.
Guess I missed the boat on that 2013 mono... Was thinking of getting one just for comparison's sake, but not finding any for even close to retail online. I personally don't believe it's AAA so it's not a huge loss to me. I was curious though. If I'm going to dabble with this record enough to spend $100 on a UHQR, might as well compare it to other versions.
I think the theory was having a completely flat side reduced vibrations. They were mostly all dished warped anyways.
