Thought we had a thread like this (could not find )
now playing :
1972's Zeit was great but I am not sure if I have ever heard that one all the way thru.
You might be thinking of one of the ambient threads.
Notably, Grobschnitt - Rockpommel's Land, Jumbo, Merry-go-Round.
I also have some Klaus Schulze, Novalis, Tangerine Dream, La Dusseldorf, Kraftwerk ...
Makes for a more relaxed drive home in the dark.
Just the other day, pulled out "Einstieg" from the band Between. Spacy electronics, proto-ethnic fusion, and freeform jams. Surprisingly, James Galway (that's Sir James Galway, superstar classical flautist) plays the flute on this album.
Got this 5LP set recently and am loving it:
Completely ensconced with
Love it all, even the weird tape experiments on 2
I love Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Eloy, Ashra and Anyone's Daughter. I also like Grobschnitt, Neu, Novalis and others.
Nektar have done some great stuff if you can call them "Krautrock".
I'm german, born in 1967, so I grew up with all that stuff. It doesn't sound as "exotic" to me as it probably does for many of you guys.
Love it. The classics like Can, Neu!, Cluster, Harmonia, Kraftwerk, and Amon Duul I I are top notch.
About a year ago I stumbled upon the Sky pressings of Michael Rother's "Flammende Herzen" and Roedellius' "Selbstportrait" and those are now among my current faves. Check em out if you dig Neu! or Cluster.
Just been playing Eno and Cluster's After the Heat and Holger Czukay's Movies:
There's some amazing Can stuff on YouTube. The 36-minute, full-length version of 'Doko E' is rocking my world at the moment.
played this by Heldon and a few others the other day...
Movies is one of the best albums ever made if you ask me.
Saw Kraftwerk play live in Portland OR a few weeks ago. Didn't think they'd be able to convey their recorded output successfully from a stage. I was very wrong. It was an amazing evening.
Sand - Golem
Amon Düül II - Yeti
Absolutely love this album. I was introduced to it via this review:
I have been curious about the recent Sand lp releases on the Rotorelief label. Has anyone heard them and are they worth checking out?
