When you live near Spartanburg it's hard to wrap your head around Marshall Tucker being under rated!

Underrated? Perhaps. Classic rock? Perhaps not.

Not a bad list/article. A good, quick read with a persuasive reasons for each artist. Agree with most, but as others have noted,
Spirit is probably the biggest miss in the article.

sounds about right. i say refused, merely because the tour wasn't something that page/grant couldn't get him out of. the other underlying aspect was the fear of page and his reading of crowley etc ... if the guy is happy where he is, good for him.

The first two that came to mind were Zappa/Mothers and Alice Cooper. I think among 'the masses' most people only know each for their novelty tunes and not their extensive catalogs.

You got that right!! Around Spartanberg but to the rest of the country their looked at as the Allmans little brothers. But, hey , dont get me wrong I love The Marshall Tucker Band !!(p.s I'm from Macon.)

Just so I'm clear - the word "classic" here means "older"?

I think it covers the period from The British Invasion through the advent of punk, or a little later. Dire Straits and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are still classic rock (though not underrated).
