    McCartney's recording aliases also include:

The Country Hams ("Walking in the Park With Eloise")
Suzy & the Red Stripes ("Seaside Woman")

OK, Suzy was really Linda McC, but Paul's fingerprints are all over that record...

It was the same album actually. "The Legendary Grape" by the Melvilles (as in Herman). Just recently released on CD and quite good for a reunion album, too. The Melvins of course are another group entirely.

Isn't Ringo supposed to be Billy Shears? I am pretty sure he sings "With a Little Help From My Friends" as Billy judging by the song's intro.

Apparently the story of Prince and his "alter egos" is like this. When Prince recorded the tracks that ended up as "The Black Album" Prince claims that these were the creation of his "dark side" The Spooky Electric, and that Camille was supposed to be his "good side". Prince had second thoughts at the last minute about "The Black Album" and had Warner Bros. recall the album before it was distributed. Supposedly they had to destroy several hundred thousand copies of that album. The album by Camille that you mentioned ended up being released as "Lovesexy" but credited as a Prince album instead at Warners insistance.

One more Prince history lesson for your enjoyment and information. ;)

Costello's pseudonyms get pretty extensive, especially in the mid to late eighties. In addition to the ones you mention above, they include Napoleon Dynomite, Howard Coward of The Coward Brothers (or was he Henry?), and, oh yes, That Emotional Toothpaste.

In fact, his list of alternate aliases was so long that his late eighties rarities collection OUT OF OUR IDIOT was jokingly billed as a "various artists" collection.

And don't forget, "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding" was originally released as a Nick Lowe single.

As for the Billy Shears question, Ringo himself sang (and Lennon wrote for him) in "I Am The Greatest":

"Yes, my name is Billy Shears...You know, it has been for so many years..."

    Another Prince story...

When he was in his "symbol" phase, he had to release records under the name of his back-up band, The NPG (New Power Generation). He appeared in videos with a shroud over his face, and went by the name Tora Tora.
