This is a truly killer track by Shy, a pommie band from the eighties. I suppose they're considered hair-hard rock? It's so catchy, great riff and solo.

It sure sounds like Dave listened to this song. Ugh. As a Pink Floyd fan I wish I hadn't learned this.

Frank Zappa. I don't care for his work except for this one song, which I love: Anyway the Wind Blows. As far as I'm concerned, he could have spent his whole career doing songs that sounded like this. But I suspect he actually despised this kind of music.

The Fall - Rowche Rumble. When I first heard this, my first thought was, My God, there's a Fall song I actually like?

He loved doo wop and wrote songs in the genre. This one might even be one of them.

Eminence Front by the Who is great. The rest is alright but never really clicked for me.

I have nothing against The Flamingos as a vocal group but after the otherworldly "I Only Have Eyes For You" anything else I've heard from them sounds thoroughly terrestrial:

Bob Seger never really does anything for me but "Hollywood Nights" is an INCREDIBLE track! Just the churning rhythm and sense of sadness soaked through it. Makes me well up every time "sniff". Everything else I've heard seems a bit bar-bandy.
