A friend once asked me why I wasn't a big Tom Petty fan since I'm a big supporter
of Florida musicians, a Rickenbacker guitar nut and a life-long Byrds fan. My reply
was simply: "Ah yes...but The Byrds could sing".
In all fairness though, Tom went out on a high note with his production of Chris Hillman.

No. I just told you I don't like them o_O
    Seriously though, not really.
Maybe in the background at a party or something.

Pretty much anything that can be described as hazy, angular, swirling or dreamy.

In other words, stuff that plugs in atmospherics in place of decent songwriting.

You are in need of an infusion of 'the chronic'. It's legal where you roost.

  8. Brian Kelly

Brian Kelly 1964-73 rock's best decade

Because I love Nick Drake, people always assume I'm a Richard Thompson fan, but I've only ever heard one recording of his that I much cared for.

Also I'm a huge Beatles fan, so people assume I have all kinds of Dylan albums, but I don't much care for his work beyond his folk period. I much prefer Dylan as a writer than as a singer.

Music is too personal to worry about what other people think I should like. I'm friends with many who have disparate tastes.

Yeah, I'm big into 60's garage rock, but not so crazy about most psyechedelic rock. The two styles are often lumped together, so it can be difficult to find groups who never jumped on the flower-power bandwagon. Far too many bands went from wild, ferocious hormone-fueled mayhem in 1966 to overproduced tripe about assigning colours to each day of the week or whatever in 1967. Quote from We the People drummer David Cox:

"I can almost pinpoint the day where everybody who was dancing around, jumping around, raising hell, packing the place, instead sat down on the floor, crossed their legs and expected to hear "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.""
