audio grade AC outlets. Worth trying?

My wife came across these and thought they looked interesting. Has anyone here used these or know anything about them?? Thanks, as always, for you appreciated input!

I got some free hospital grade outlets from an electrician friend and use them in all my audio/video locations. The main benefit seems to be that the plugs are tighter in the outlets (maybe better contact?). They were more solidly built as well.

I would assume "audio grade" would be similar?

 

I've got them. I have them on both my systems (stereo and surround)
I'm also running dedicated circuits for both systems directly off the box
I can't tell you it makes and audible difference. My electrician liked the idea but I was paying him for the install. They look cool though.

The Wattgates are expensive.

If you want an alternative, get the Pass and Seymour 5241-I for a few dollars. These are really well made, have side entry screws, the right sort of metal and grip the plug just fine. These are the outlets that Acme Audio pull apart, silver plate and then cryo. I have the Acme's and they are the best I've tried; but the stock P&S are remarkable value. 5241 is the model I recommend. Don't use the 5261.

Like all outlets, they take about a month to break in. If you can't go for the dedicated lines you can easily replace a few receptacles in an hour or so. Plus, to install, you'll be cutting the mains wires off and stripping the insulation exposing fresh copper before screwing them down, and that of itself will give your system a boost.

I did not find them on a google search.

When I was trying out receptacles, the Leviton's were the first ones I tried, because they are readily found at Home Depot. The Levitons certainly provided an improvement over the outlets in my apartment - but I reckon these were the originals from the '70s; they certainly looked old when I pulled them out.

Someone from Texas sent me a couple of the P&S - I haven't seen them locally; sorry.

Nrom, you lucky dog, I would love to have dedicated lines, if I ever remodel that's how I hope to go.
