Yes, Audio-Technica has been around for 60 years and some of their Limited Edition reissued product includes The Sound Burger. 60th Anniversary | Audio-Technica
I don't think AT makes any of it's turntable models. I just saw that "Soundburger" recently. At $199, it is probably a real POS. On the other hand, the clear/acrylic model LP-2022 is cool looking. Prob one of the Taiwan OEM models dressed up.
I'm in the market for a new TT, I'm not a big fan of the clear look, But I understand the performance advantages of this material, I'm a bit of a fan of A-T and this is no doubt a TT that shoots way above its price range in performance.
Looking at the design and arm would not be surprised if Clearaudio had a hand in this. They have made decks for several other manufacturers incl Marantz, Naim and Mcintosh. Also includes a special clear version of the AT95SH. Seems to be a limited run.
Audio-Technica has made 2022’s best-looking turntable | Darko.Audio "Attached to the business end of that tonearm is an Audio Technica AT-VM95 cartridge; it comes factory-fitted with an AT-VM95E elliptical stylus (in a black shell) but also supplied in the box is a clear-shelled AT-VMN95SH Shibata stylus." Pretty badass...

Okay that soundburger is nothing new. And it’s a recordplower so don’t get all riled up if your records will sound like a raging campfire after being played on this contraption.
That's something you can't say until you test the tracking force etc. It uses the same stylus as the LP60. Not saying I'll be playing my UHQRs on this guy but it'll be fun to play my old thrift store finds and secondary copies in the kitchen and outside on this thing. Really looking forward to owning a somewhat modernized version of this as I've been after one since seeing the Techmoan video.
I strongly suggest you listen to the TT with the 95SH stylus before throwing $700 at the AT33SA. I have both on different TT's so it's good advice. You need to spend more on a phono stage before adding an expensive MC.
And you have listened to the AT phono stage? I'll give it a go , thanks for the recommendation though.
who the heck has a wife that allows them to buy this stuff? Cannot imagine telling my wife I bought a $9k turntable cartridge at any stage of our lives.
I only know one person that would buy a $9K cartridge. Vast majority of people I know into vinyl would not spend more than $500 on a cart. Many are using $100 or less cartridges. The anniversary cartridge does have some interesting technology in it though (one piece cantilever and stylus). Definitely a statement product and not something designed to be sold in mass quantities. I'm sure it sound very nice.
Somebody with a $50k+ turntable and similar cost phono stage? $9k would be chump change. "Beater" cart!
I've got a buddy with a Koetsu Coralstone Diamond on an Airforce One turntable. It's cool to know somebody with such stuff. Looking forward to my next visit there next summer.
