Something fun, Testing out the cheap digitizer dongle I got to record from the output of the peq30 phono directly... Here is the first time I tried to use it, I have it running from the CD player to the loki and then also through the magni3+ just to see how it all affects sound, I did not record at the best quality, I will try a few more videos and find the quality balance to load time, It all gets converted to the YT format anyway so I'll see what works....seems pretty good for the price, it should atleast show the noise floor and overall effect of the system from line out....just got it running strait to my phone.
Most people were never into real hi-fi. Back in the day before digital most had some old groove grinder for records, probably as bad or worse than a current Crosley. Hardly surprising that people who want convenience jumped to smartphones. There is more variety of proper hi-fi than ever these days so there is obviously a considerable market but not so much in North America and Europe. Far East has become more important especially to makers of traditional British speakers,
Another reason I favor well done reissues over original pressings, especially on stuff that was popular back then and got played numerous times on that sub-par gear. My parents tell stories of taping coins to a headshell if a record was skipping, playing them outside (suitcase all-in-one) with their friends, etc and it just turns my stomach. But they were kids listening to Elvis and The Beatles so it was purely about the music.
Finally got the shipping confirmation, They said sorry about delay, it took a little longer than anticipated, but I will get it by the end of the week I recon.
Were you contacted first in regards to your shipping notice, or did you reach out to them? Thanks, and can't wait to see your pics and video once you receive the TT.
I never contacted them about my order specifically, but I did ask per the FAQ's about expected delivery times. They did send out a message about charging for the order and follow up with shipping.
just a short by the same guy did the unboxing recently , a reviewer in thailand or somewhere. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Agsp-Wl8_c8
I called AT and they told me they plan on shipping starting end of December, first of January. I got my order in just barely under the wire, so I probably will be one of the last to receive mine.
Behind on this thread but assuming it's the anniversary TT? Cool stuff. Be sure the share your feedback!!
Looks good, I got another back order message, so still waiting, I ordered an lp 140 and the AT MM only japanese phono. Just because.
I was told by HiFiHeaven they r only trickling out a few at a time and it would likely be Feb. b4 my order was filled that was placed mid December. I think they had maybe 15 total coming in and did expect to sell out. Good luck…
Yeah that's why I decided to pick up the lp140, I wanted a DD tt as a double, and figured I might as well get it now. I got the lp2022 ordered, it will come eventually. I have no TT at the moment and about 75 lps waiting to play. Also picked up a microliner to swap into the dj cart. The lp140 will make a nice sidekick to my lp2022...all AT phone sections... The at peq3 mm only phono is supposedly pretty good also, DJs prefer it to the built in pioneer one on the control.
Excellent call with the AT-LP140. I currently have a AT-LP1240-USB TT which I purchased back in November of 2015. I initially bought it strictly for doing vinyl rips of LPs I was going to sell so the buyers could hear the amount of surface noise to expect. I took a liking to the TT immediately, and it has been in heavy use ever since. It still looks and operates like new.
I thought about the lp1240 but didn't really care about ripping vinyl, wanted the clear path for a better phono.
Interesting. Why did you go for two different turntables instead of going for one very good deck directly? Is your plan to test both DD and helt drive decks before deciding which one to go for and maybe upgrade when making that move? And why did you go for Audio Technica only? As an example Technics might have been a worthy alternative when dipping in to direct drive.
Honestly most TT are overpriced beyond audiotechnica. I've always liked the brand. I'm not huge into vinyl records and don't see myself going much over 100 lp's. Probably never more than 200....Audiotechnica serves my purpose and I feel offers the best value to quality available. And I just wanted 2 TTs so I can have the next one ready to go in an instant, incase I fiddle with one while the other is playing. Non stop fun.... I'm weird, I got basically both top end versions of audiotechnica TTs, the direct and belt.
Well there are other brands that have good sounding turntables in the same price bracket as your two AT’s. So there are a great number of alternatives on the market. Interesting point of view. But if you only are going to have a maximum of 200 records wouldn’t only one deck be enough? I wonder, do you have a phono stage with two inputs/outputs so you don’t have to fiddle with the phono cables?
I have 2 phono preamps, the AT peq30 that Is MM and MC that will rum the lp2022, and the AT peq3 mm only that will run the lp140. I'll be able to drop the needle on the other one and push a button on my preamp and be playing the next LP instantly. See I could buy a technics 1200g I can afford it....I want to have fun with my record playing days,,,2 TTs one belt and one DD let's me do that.... I'll leave the dj cart on the lp140 but I got a microliner for it, the lp2022 I will use the vm95 and at33sh and flip between mm and mc, I have a second headshell ready. Pretend I'm a Audio-Technica fan boy like technics fan boys and it will make sense. I'm more into CD'S.
Without doubt there is a snobbery among some turntable owners on this forum. Brand loyalty is obvious as well, and thats no different to almost anything...cars, TV, washing machines etc. This new AT lp2022 is worth it to those who want it. Whether its better is a moot point. Its a limited addition as far as I can tell, so you are paying for exclusivity as well. As far as I can tell Audio Technica's range of turntables tries to please almost everyone. The fact (it would appear correctly from what I have read over the years) they are made in China under licence by whoever makes no difference to Joe Bloggs. Most of the 'name' brands have done this for the last 2 decades or so, be it Amps, CD Players, Speakers...turntables!! For my part...I got my first turntable in 31 years last Christmas as a gift from my Girlfriend. It was a AT LP60XBT and I have been delighted with it. I nudged her in that direction as I didn't want her to spend a fortune on me playing what was left of my vinyl collection (75) and I had no intention of buying new vinyl (though she did buy me the beautiful Suzanne Vega boxset for my birthday). Surprisingly I mainly use the bluetooth option on it and I find it sounds very good. Now, many on here, cast it as a toy...each to their own I say and as long as you are happy with it...that's all that matters.
Sounds great! Then just play around with your two AT’s, please let us know which one that sound the best to your ears. Then maybe I’m a Michell fan boy. But I’m also impressed by other turntables/brands like the Technics SL-1200/1210G, Rega P3, P8 and P10, Pro-Ject Debut PRO as well as Linn LP12. They are all different but still they do all sound amazing and all of them are impressive pieces of engineering IMO.
