My girlfriend thinks I'm weird because I get annoyed when the fridge in my small apartment kicks on and makes a humming noise that I can hear from my couch. It always seems to happen during a nice quiet part of classical music. Sometimes I jump up and turn off the power to the fridge so I can hear the rest of my music without that god-awfull humming in the background.

These look like the ones being played at a New York Audio Show in November. They played a Louis Armstrong/Ella Fitzgerald song, and when he played a solo, it almost sounded like the music was exploding from inside your head

Forget about the high end gear over my modest but decent set up- I want a pair of ears that can hear so well as to tell the difference.

(Actually, I wouldn't mind a bit of an upgrade but not at those prices. Not even!)

They probably were the speakers. They travel them to a lot of electronic shows etc.

I hear on some albums it makes them sound like they are performing right in front of you.

Actually, my ears are old and a bit damaged but I might have to do that anyway-- Casa de Dave sounds like a good place for margaritas!

    Cheers! :)

At 82 years old he is still pursuing his love of music. I truly admire his love for life and his desire to stay relevant in it's pursuit. This man is not laying down to die.
How appropriate that he was playing Dream Weaver:

"Though the dawn may be coming soon
There still may be some time...."

Go solar and you won't need a electrical pole.

When he goes, who's going to get all that crap. You can't take it with you when God calls your name.

Sorry, Martin Logan is one of the "worst" loudspeaker design I've ever heard in my life. Amazing transparency, clarity and soundstage, but the woofer do NOT work perfect with the electrostatic transducer.

So what must one spend to get a well designed loudspeaker?
Also what would your 5-6 figure loudspeaker choice be.
    Cocobolo cabinets maybe?

Laughed my azz off at that power pole, and would of laughed harder if the audiophile had detailed it's precise components and functions.

The price range doesn't matter. I have heard great speakers for less than 10k.

The best speakers... my favorites brands are Magico, Sonus Faber, Tidal Audio and Wilson Audio. Their drivers work best in their design.

Wouldn't a longer tone arm allow for a straighter path across the record? I wonder how much straighter a path a 25 foot tone arm would allow?

Man, I'm the same way. I need the A/C off when doing critical listening too.
