"The Beloved Music" I have to get. I do have "Low Cost Space Flights". TBM is fantastic. Full on blitz, but also Flaherty slows it down and plays some really sweet stuff. Heard good things about FWTW. Thanks for the tip.
Fascinating interview with John Tilbury - esp. the bits where he discusses the difference in playing from a score and improvisation. Interview with John Tilbury - It's Psychedelic Baby Magazine I've seen him play both in group settings and alone - the latest was the other night at the launch gig of his latest CD The Tiger's Mind.
Beginning To Fall In Line Before Me, So Decorously, The Nature Of All That Must Be Transformed, by Nazoranai
A really nice one this. The sound quality is fantastic for such a release. The packaging of the CD is.... practically non-existent, but at the end of the day I suppose we're lucky to have this in such good quality. Oh, I'd of preferred it if there were no fade outs between the 12 tracks. No matter.
Radian: On Dark Silent Off wonderful little group maybe the best of the 3 releases I’ve heard over the years
I've seen them twice at Cafe Oto but the last time was over three years ago - they need to return! I also need to play their music again - thanks for the reminder.
OK, so back in 1981 I picked up an album on ECM called Dolmen Music by someone I'd never heard of before called Meredith Monk probably due to a favourable review in the NME (they covered a surprising amount of left-field stuff in the late 70s and early 80s). But...I'm not sure I could get on with it and eventually sold it years ago. And then in Foyle's classical section the other day I saw this and thought it was about time I gave her another shot. And it's great - fits in well wit my current listening habits. And I've just ordered a CD of Dolmen Music...I have some catching up to do on her career.
Was just watching some episodes of the HBO series High Maintenance in anticipation of the new season starting and there's a mention by one of the characters that she's going to be going to a Meredith Monk concert. Thought that was pretty cool. But I digress.
She's fantastic. I recently picked up the 2XCD "Opera" by Monk - ATLAS. It's sort of.... Einstein on the Beach but with extended vocal technique and not quite as much repetition. I think I have 10 or 12 of her CD's, and they're all great.
