Subconscious Demon Committee (atrocious adventures in LO-FI) vol. V [HysM?155], by Su.De.Co. (avant-garde, 3-track EP, released December 24, 2022, Italy) Favourite track: Cacophony Domine
Macrogramma - Asphyxia Asphyxia, by Macrogramma Everyday life is often filled with many small anxieties that we deal with by simply pretending they do not exist. Sometimes they thicken beyond the horizon of our field of vision, turning into a sense of impending danger, a floating leviathan, an immense bird of prey hiding in the clouds above the skyscrapers ready to grab us. Our only defence is to try to ignore it, hoping that oblivion will slowly devour it, relegating it to another plane of existence. And sometimes, it is simply like dreaming of suffocating...
Daou - Reverie Reverie, by Daou “Reverie” portrays fragments of a memory of a penurious old lady who once lived beneath the watchtower, in an abandoned house with her cow. She was enslaved and mistreated by her siblings after her husband passed away a few years back. She led a life of misery and loneliness, but one cannot help but wondering about her past life and hoping that sometime in earlier years, she was happy and enjoying her days. This is a tribute to this random human being whose life didn’t matter and whose memory is fading over the years. It’s a celebration of her life and a fiction of what could it be. A fig tree stands up the hill, surrounded by a herd of cattle chanting melodies and playing the chimes.

Angelo Petronella - Rimandi E Scoperte I like the Zeit Composers Series on Die Schachtel. I think this is some of the most interesting concrete and electronic music since the classic GRM releases.
Master Perhaps VS Captain Maybe, by Thollem and Danny Frankel (improvised jazz / experimental, full-length, released January 11, 2023, San Francisco, California) Favourite track: Moonset Manual For Peoples
I really wish I could have been there--Halvorson and especially Maneri are two of my favorite current musicians, and hearing them together would have been a real treat!

So many great recordings on 577 records Now playing Educated Guess volume 2 recorded live on 3/4/2020 at Cafe Oto Dave Tucker - guitar & electronics Pat Thomas - piano & keys Thurston Moore - guitar Mark Sanders - drums & percussion 2 pieces 16:34 & 20:13 CD of volume 1 on the way / even shorter but these recordings are perfect and the music is sui generis & stunning IMO. Despite the awesome power these dudes can generate, much of the strength of the performances are through restraint. The who knows who plays what is AMMish. One can figure it out but the listening is better when it is simply listened to.
Caught my first NY jazz show last night at the Village Vanguard... David Murray with Marta Sanchez, Luke Stewart and Kassa Overall. They sounded great. You guys who live near the city have so many incredible options for live music!
I bailed out on Ches Smith’s Octet that included James Brandon Lewis & Nate Wooley More shows soon glad you enjoyed it

At The Stone? There are recordings of all three nights of his stand there up on LL. I’m looking forward to checking them out in the next few days.
Great!!! EDIT: urg, I can't sign in there. Now that I think about it I think I never got back on after the site went down last year? Is there some kind of trick to it?
They have interesting releases but they need to say whether the release is CD or CDr. I've bought some of their CDs from Squidco and they turned out to be CDr. Not cool.
