Actually, I like the Rolling Stones' covers of Under The Boardwalk and My Girl, and also Come On, Fortune Teller, Poison Ivy, I Can't Be Satisfied...

However, ONLY ONE of us can be correct, according to that thread that insists "good music" can be determined objectively...

  3. I agree. A remarkably stiff outing from a band that has a really good singer and a great drummer. Seems they just phoned this one in. Their own music usually has a lot better groove and sound than this.

 :disgust: Could there possibly be a more boneheaded idea than making a recording of this tune without it's defining riff?

Smash Mouth's cover of "I'm A Believer" is horrible, IMO - sounds like a mediocre bar band. Stupid lyric changes ("The more I gave the less I got...oh, yeah") and awful arrangement/playing. Nothing in their version adds anything new:

"Gentle On My Mind" by Leonard Nimoy

One of my favorite songs (I've got 12 different versions of this song). There's an outstanding version (Roger Miller), good versions (Glen Campbell and Foster & Allen)...and then there is this...

If it wasn't Corey Feldman but rather a deep cut cover on some relatively known R&B artist's album it wouldn't be too bad.
This is coming from a Lennon fan.

James Taylor's cover of Day Tripper
He leaves out the best part (the guitar riff) and tries to make it into some kind of "jazz scat" song and it is just awful.
