I see that now, but I interpreted this to be focused on bands with generic names, not bands who are named after a member, however, it's your thread, so I apologize.

Group such as TRex, The Attractions, Jethro Tull, Roxy Music, etc were mostly vehicles for the talents of the front man and it is not surprising that there would be covers featuring only the main artist. And any group name which includes the main artists full name in the group will have them on the cover solo as often as not. I haven't been able to think of a good example yet. The Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out cover is a good one since it doesn't fit the usual scenarios.

Not as many as I thought from the "official" Fall albums. Most of the lousy comps and bootleg level live releases just have MES, though.

I see this as a creative decision made by a record company after his death to capitalize on it, somewhat. Not a decision made by the band while Ian was alive and they were still making music and creative decisions together.

' Sincerely ' by The Dwight Twilley Band only has a blurry picture of Dwight Twilley on the cover but I guess that makes sense as it's The Dwight Twilley Band meaning it's Dwight Twilley and some other guys.

That would have been news to the other members of Roxy Music.

Isn't that Charlie and Mick on the cover go Ya-Ya's?
