They helped? They weren't alone in this impact on history? Shouldn't another act be given credit too, for this "historical impact" on....pop prog. :p

He outlived Kurt Cobain, who is my milestone shock passing. It feels like yesterday.

I don't think this was supposed to be an "artists I hate" thread. But people jump on it like it is, even though there are many other threads they could do it in instead. :sigh:

Probably so but I've already checked the others out....Styx I haven't. Not a massive fan but I think I might find a few good songs much like when I checked out Kansas last year.

Another one for me is "Rush" not a fan of high pitched male vocals.

How do you feel about low-pitched female vocals? ;)

Another one for me is David Bowie. I love "CHANGESONEBOWIE" but that was enough for me. If one didn't know better, one would think he was still alive with all the recordings
released since his death. Same thing with Prince.

You know, I appreciate that. There are like 4 or 5 Bowie tunes that I like, but otherwise I have never been compelled

I’m enjoying metal more and more so probably I’m gonna explore them soon...

    The Who too
I’ve heard their singles although they have good songs I can’t see what’s the deal about them. They seem to me like a regular band, not in the same league as the Beatles, Floyd, Zeppelin, Stones or even Queen.

The Who aren't so much of a deal as Beatles, Floyd, Zeppelin, Stones or Queen, not in sales, nor when it comes to ongoing appeal with younger generations (streaming shows they're not listened to anywhere as near as much as the other acts you've mentioned). They're a big deal on this forum, but that's down to the demographic of most people here (age / location), bearing in mind they were bigger in north America than outside of it.

Yeah, I didn’t know about sales, that’s interesting.
I’m young and I was surprised to see how big they are among baby boomers (I’m not implying they suck or something like that...btw).

Neither are the Grateful Dead, they're mentioned in the very first post, and dozens of other artists/bands mentioned in this thread.

I don’t hate them, but what I have heard of theirs hasn’t interested me very much.

    .
I didn't go through all the other comments here, as I clicked on the most recent page first, not that it makes any odds.

And yes, I've commented before about The Grateful Dead. Plutonio didn't mention The Grateful Dead though.

Actually, the Grateful Dead would fit for me except they don't have a huge following and historical impact outside of the US. They're a cult band. Though how many artists/bands would qualify on both counts anyway?

Most of the blues oriented bands like Zeppelin although I actually can tolerate Zeppelin more than most.

I absolutely honor and respect the blues, and appreciate their proper, righteous and well-deserved place in music history, but as far as actually liking to listen to the genre and its derivatives ... I've tried to like liverwurst too and neither one is happening.
