Not quite but I think it's a great album. The true Kinks "fall off" is between Preservation Acts 1 and 2. I count eight of the 11 Act 1 songs as very good to excellent. From Act 2, zero. Seriously.

Some of us really do prefer the latter. To my mind No Cities was a less exciting rehash of their former glories, while Center was something completely new, spottier but generally more exciting.

Zappa. Beefheart too, at Magic Mountain one week prior to Monterey.
No one seems to remember that, though. Silent movies of the show only.

Hardly from summit to base, I really enjoy "Poseidon", particularly "Pictures of a City".
"Lizard" is great too but I find Jon Anderson's involvement jarring. What's a Fripp to do?

I have both of these (obtained in the last year), but honestly I couldn't give you a very fair assessment of either at this point. I've probably played them about 2-3 times each so far. I do think that reading a lot of negative reviews of these records helped me keep the bar pretty low which certainly leads to more excitement when the good parts shine through.

Granted they are certainly not as easy to access as the holy trilogy of Yes, but there's some parts there that always get me to take notice.

I feel I need to hear them at least 5 to 10 times before I can reach any sort of conclusion of a legitimate ranking. I doubt they'll ever reach 5 star status, but 3.5 is still a pretty good score (if either or both of them reach that point).

Likewise Drama may not be 90125, but it's certainly has its own charms.

Dude, Drama, 90125 and The Yes Album are my 3 favorite albums of theirs. :)

They are so different but still uniquely Yes
