The singer from Steam (who, for all intents and purposes was Steam) died earlier this year.

Some 60's groups got their start as studio machinations way but morphed into more "legitimate" groups. The Grass Roots and, to a lesser extent, The Cuff Links were two.

And of course, with the more recent histories of older acts like "The Coasters/The Platters" (who would go offstage, change into the other group's jackets and come right back out as the other group), who knows if there were any original members even available to tour by the '80s when this all started being a food fight.

From the first 1972 lineup, only bassist Gary Tallent remains.

    Bruce doesn't count, obviously :D

If you’re referring to the Byrds from late 68 to 1972, you’re way off. At the very least, Clarence White wasn’t a pretender

Unless the original lineup have since reunited (which is doubtful), UK band Vanity Fare feature no original founding members.

In this live video of 'Hitchin' A Ride' from 2008, the vocals of singer/founding member Trevor Brice are painfully recreated by Eddie Wheeler.

The live on-stage version of Toto is now down to founding members Steve Lukather and Steve Porcaro.

David Paich has taken a leave of absence for the current tour.

The Swinging Blue Jeans, and Ray Ennis in particular, are extremely underrated. Here they are with 'Long Tall Sally':

I'd think Trevor Horn would have something more interesting to do then go out on this tour. Maybe he misses the road.

As would Mel Collins. I thought RF was keeping him busy.

Only seven dates mentioned, I guess King Crimson has enough downtime for Collins to do it.

I noticed the last paragraph mentions Steve Ferrone (although the first paragraph mentions another drummer?) who I guess also has time now that Tom Petty is gone.

The (new) Mamas and Papas peforming live at 1992 new years eve gala, organised by Greek television network Antenna, hosted by Niko Mastorakis (outside Greece, he's better known for the trashy b-movies he directed in the U.S.), This show should better called "The New Mamas and Papas featuring Scott McEnzie". Nice, though to listen to Scott McEnzie performing his big hit "San Francisco"! Of course only John Philips was an original!

Technically, if they haven't been mentioned already, The Hollies count - as neither of the two current long term members (who run the band these days) were there on day one. Tony Hicks replaced Vic Steele shortly afterwards, just prior to their audition with EMI, and Bobby Elliott stepped in for Don Rathbone after a year or so.

The Flying Burrito Brothers had toured in the past with no original members if I'm not mistaken

Has a band ever started with the intention of the band lasting forever, with the new members being "canon" to the band?
That would be an interesting concept
