Bands with three or more excellent songwriters

Off the top of my head there is Moby Grape, Mental As Anything, The Beatles, Teenage Fanclub, Buffalo Springfield. A quick look at my record shelf came up with Badfinger, Earth Wind & Fire and the Ramones.

What are some other bands that had THREE (or more) quality songwriters?

At their prime, KISS with Simmons, Stanley, and Frehley.
I've already been beaten to Badfinger and the Wilburys.

Stipe, not really. The others yes, but it's a bit difficult to know who wrote what. Bill Berry was very active in the first years of the band, musically speaking.

Perhaps, but not many bands have 3 songwriters.
That’s a definitive factor.

Of course, “Excellence” is subjective.

 

The Beach Boys. Although only Brian and Dennis maintained their consistency for any length of time, Carl, Al and Bruce all managed to come up with a few excellent songs and, depending on your tastes, Mike was involved in some good ones.
