Morris Plains: I picked up the Christine ost and Rhino - Transparent Days West Coast Nuggets 2-lp set, (last copies of each). Still lots of stuff there as of Sunday morning (Pink Floyd More and a collection of great dance songs, Black Crowes, Cars - Heartbeat City). Things do move quickly, though: there was a mono copy of Beau Brummels - Triangle on saturday afternoon; gone this morning.

I work at a Barnes & Noble in Clackamas, Oregon. We have a good music department and a great selection of vinyl. I was the lucky fellow who got to do this 50% off vinyl project in our store. It's not the managers at my work who have chosen which vinyl is on sale - that decision must have come from somebody higher up! When I did the project I noticed that the sale expiration date is the end of April. I would not expect to be getting fresh vinyl for this sale as I think they are just trying to sell slower moving product (although I could be proved wrong). If there is anything you are looking for that you have seen mentioned on this site but your local store does not have it a bookseller can check if any of the warehouses have and order it for you. Failing that they can look up and see if any of the other Barnes & Noble stores in the USA have it in stock - if they do then there is a possibility that they can manifest it to your local store or alternatively they may be willing to take payment over the phone. I have done this over the last week for a few different customers (Pixies "Bossanova, Cure's "Faith" and "Three imaginary boys", a couple of Enya albums and the "Fast times at Ridgemont High" soundtrack album). I was first in line when our store opened on the 26th December as I obviously knew what we had on sale and these are the titles I've bought -

Peter Gabriel - Car, Scratch, Security
    Joe Strummer -101
Beastie Boys - To The Five Boroughs
Johnny Marr - Call The Comet
The Time - Ice Cream Castle
Eurythmics - In the garden, Sweet dreams, Touch, Be yourself tonight
Isaac Hayes - Hot buttered soul
    Shaft Soundtrack
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Juju
Massive Attack - Blue lines, Protection
Sting - Dream of the blue turtles, Nothing like the sun
Duran Duran - Seven and the ragged tiger
Rolling Stones - Let it bleed
    LCD Soundsystem - American Dream
Kate Bush - Before the dawn
    Paul McCartney - Egypt station
The Cars - Moving in stereo, Heartbeat City
Gary Clark Jr - The Story of Sonny Boy Slim
Rush - Signals, Hold Your Fire, Show of hands, Grace under pressure
    Japan - Gentlemen take polaroids
Toto - 40 trips around the sun
    Jam - Sound Affects
    Roxy Music - Avalon
Roy Orbison - The classic Roy Orbison, Mystery girl
    Wilson Pickett - Best of
    John Fogerty - Centerfield
    Iggy Pop - The idiot
    Hole - Live through this
    Portishead - Dummy
Tom Petty - Southern Accents, Let me up I've had enough
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis
Stevie Wonder - Hotter in July
Pink Floyd - A collection of great dance songs
Bruce Springsteen - Tunnel of love
    Ryan Adams - Ryan Adams
    Best Coast - California Nights
    Joe Jackson - Collected
    The Stooges - Raw power

There are some items that are not in store but are listed on the B&N system as being "Home delivery only". This includes Bruce Springsteen's album collections - both numbers 1 and 2 which come to around $135 each. The Pretenders vinyl box set I've also seen listed as being half price at $100. As you can tell from my list this sale has become somewhat of an addiction for me - there's plenty of other records I would also love but going to start giving some love to the above new additions to my collection.

Bloom You're embarrassing me in front of the wizards

I can confirm what @Jspmike said- I called a store 40 min away to see if they had the Grateful Dead - Shrine Hall and while they didn't, the really nice girl working the dept offered to have it shipped to me from the warehouse at 50% off. So you may be able to have some of the ones missing from your store ordered for you!

I don’t blame them. They can’t return it and no offense intended, but most skips are due to hardware, not software. There’s a good chance it’ll play fine on another system.

I wouldn’t pay full price for it though and I’ll venture B&N has it priced at full price.

2008 iirc for Bayou Country is what I've seen copies of. Also the debut album I've seen some copies of. Dunno which masterings those are. Concord and Fantasy iirc are on the sleeves.

Anyone know how good 2015 iirc Rush remasters are? Or the Dylan Love & Theft?

I picked up a # copy of Machine Gun today for $17.50 before tax.

Update- at the Stevens Creek location referenced above, they moved all the vinyl that was spread across the wall (all marked 50% off) and consolidated them into half the wall and put 50% off stickers on all those LPs. They added a bunch of new ones on the other half of the wall, none marked 50% off.

The local store had condensed everything to a single double sided aisle rack. When I stopped by today they had three fourths of the first side with the marked titles. I saw the Phil Collins remasters, Peter Gabriel remasters and mostly newer releases from the past year or two.

The selections didn’t seem like just older titles. It seemed completely randomized. Some artists have one marked and then 3-5 others regular price.

    I picked up:
Sleater Kinney-No Cities to Love b and n store edition
    Prophets of Rage-red/black colored vinyl
    Foo Fighters-St Cecilia EP
    Garbage-Strange Little Birds

I stopped by the B&N near my office on the way home tonight... not a ton left but I managed to find two:

Paul Weller - A Kind Revolution
New Order - Waiting for the Siren’s Call

There were a bunch more I put back but I figured I’d save some cash for the two larger stores I’ll be going by later in the week.

Saw both those too recently at the stores I've been visiting.

FGI, the Dylan 2LP Love and Theft is the 2017 We Are Vinyl pressing. Ray Janos did the 2001 release. His initials are not in the wax of the 2017 reissue. Still for like $13 after 50% off, it was a good bargain and I look forward to listening.

Stores have also been heavy on Nick Cave, Shins, Petty, Crowes, Radiohead, Rush, Decemberists, a few Neko Case, anyway quite a diverse selection to choose from. Not all the 50% off are 'bargains' but many are. If I knew a few of these $10-11 records, better, I'd be buying even more. Maybe that's a good thing though!

Upon its release, and afterwards, I listened to death to John Fogerty's Blue Moon Swamp, so even with the blue vinyl edition it seems it can't get me to bite on that title again. Quite a few Sinatra titles also available. Saw a few ZZ Top and some Allman Brothers. Some like Mellencamp and other reissues I'd rather put the money into having vintage pressings of. Many a slew of the Van Morrison-related recent releases also available. Couldn't find his Keep It Simple though which I might have bought on sale.

I feel bad spending at the Barnes since its kept me out of the really good used vinyl store, but man their prices on used and new vinyl at the local shop seem to have risen a good 25-50% in some cases this past year.

Thank you!! My local had a pretty small selection so just trying to see which ones I can order special. If you’re able to add the remaining titles that would be amazing, otherwise this is a great start. Thanks again.

Slight aside: the Tysons VA B&N is one of the biggest in the area, and its CD area has been decreased substantially.

I couldn't find any CD box sets there. Even the shelf that read "BOX SETS" didn't have any! :sigh:

Back in December 2018, they had lots of that stuff. Now? Nuttin'!

I picked up a couple at Tysons last week -
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis ("Premium Vinyl Pressing HQ" 180g - sounds great!, $12.50)
John Prine - Sweet Revenge (to replace my original) ($11)
and Brian Wilson - No Pier Pressure (2LP, 180g, 17.50)

Didn't get to Rosslyn, but Rockville has a poor selection, unless you're looking for Joe Bonamassa.
That said, I walked out with:
The Capital 60th Anniversary Edition of Frank Sinatra Sings for Only The Lonely (remaster, 2 LP, 180g $17.50)
Judy Garland - Judy at Carnegie Hall (remaster, 2 LP, 180g $17.50)

A neighbor told me Gaithersburg has a few of the Bowie boxes, but I haven't been up to check it out.
