Just found out today that the soundtrack to Batman vs. Two-Face was released last month. It appears FYE has the exclusive CD while Amazon only has it as a download. FYE currently has a 20% off coupon (NOV17H).

Batman vs. Two-Face (Music From The DC Animated Movie)

Anyone able to offer any guidance on the 1989 CD (Mercury #834 908-2) versus the 2014 LaLa Land Records remastered CD? For the original Batman theme, is there maybe another CD that would be the best source?

Two different releases with completely different music. The Mercury is the 1966 television show soundtrack and the La-La Land release is the 1966 movie soundtrack.

I'm aware of the soundtrack to the movie. But then what is this?

    http://screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/28142/BATMAN-TV/

Shows as a 2014 remaster of the television soundtrack at discogs.

Nelson Riddle - Batman (Exclusive Original Television Soundtrack Album)

I see it isn't on the LaLa Land records, so its probably just a re-issue of the original Mercury CD then? The "remastered" tag at Discogs may be incorrect.

That link you provided to Screen Archives is for the TV soundtrack.

Speaking of the TV soundtrack, as far as I know, it has only been released in its original configuration, with no bonus tracks, etc. The TV soundtrack is underwhelming as many of the tracks are just snippets of dialog from the TV show. The Batman ‘66 television show had so much great music and sadly it’s not been released. Many shows have enjoyed expanded soundtracks in recent years, but the Batman ‘66 soundtrack has not. A real shame.

My first thought. Also, this was probably my first record! I still have it, but the little kid that I was destroyed it.

  12. I believe it's still a licensing quagmire, which is why we haven't seen anyone attempt a concerted expansion of the television show's soundtrack in a reissue.

No one has mentioned this great version where you wouldn't expect one, Sammy Kaye's album Shall We Dance?

Can't find a YouTube and it's not on Spotify, so check your bargain bins and you should be able to find the album for a quarter. BTW, I really like Sammy Kaye's work on Decca.

So other than the original (or re-issued) Mercury Batman TV soundtrack CD, is there a great sounding digital source for the original Nelson Riddle theme? Did it turn up on any well mastered comps?

And I don't think I saw this one either. Not that it's any good.

Here's a really great Batman album. Unfortunately, the only good CD version is the mono release on One Way and is long out of print.
