Whoohoo! You gotta get this sound!

I received the other three Analogue Productions CCR LPs today.

I just got through listening to 'Cosmos' and it is the third dead quiet LP in the series. Bravo on another high quality pressing!

I heard instruments on this pressing I didn't hear on my MFSL pressing. Very clear separation of the instruments.

The tone of this LP is very close to the MFSL overall, but without the MFSL sizzling hi-hats and vocal sibilants. This pressing is not as hot on the highs, but more realistic.
Consequently it is less distorted than the MFSL.

I haven't compared it to the DCC Gold CD I have yet (what do you mean do I like CCR, I ONLY have 3 copies of Cosmos), but will do so this weekend

John Fogerty's eerie vocals are just floating in the soundstage on 'Run Through the Jungle' along with those handlcaps.

I heard more reverb decay clearly on this pressing than ever before. It really opens up the sound of the LP and makes it very natural sounding.

I will give reports on the other two LPs as the weekend progresses.

    Have fun and be safe.

Bayou Country is very good as well. This LP master has a lot of tape hiss on the vocal tracks. You can tell the hiss is on the vocal track because the tape hiss pans with John Fogerty's vocal on 'Graveyard Train'.

'Born On The Bayou' delivers the bass quite well on this version. The vocals are clean as is the cowbell. The sound on this LP is very comparable to the entire series. Very good imaging, clean separation of the instruments and the least distorted versions of these LPs I have heard.

'Proud Mary' is the best I have ever heard it presented on this album.

Willy And The Poorboys is a winner as well. All of my favorite songs sounded awesome, particularly 'Fortunate Son'. This version has a lot of punch and the guitars really come through. I really liked 'Feelin' Blue' and 'Down on the Corner' very much as well. Once again this follows the pattern of this entir series of very superior LPs.

One thing that is very clear in listening to these LPS is that the master tapes are in very good condition considering their age. I don't know how much they were used or handled during all those years, but there is very little audible evidence of tape droputs, oxide dmagae or flaking, or general tape machine mangling that you hear on many other older tapes.

Another thing is how well recorded these tapes sound. I didn't here any distortion generated from overloaded inputs, nor did I here a lot of noisy faders or static from punch in switches. This type of stuff was all over the Beatles and Stones recordings, sometimes intentional, sometimes not.

Overall the Analogue Productions versions of the CCR LPs in my opinion are the best
versions available. I only have all the DCC releases of the four CDs to compare to, and these LPs are better.

The DCC CDs are excellent as well, but sampling at 44.1 Khz loses ambience in the recordings that is stripped out by the DAC itself, which these LPS retain.

I highly recommend these LPs to anyone that is interested in them.

Once again, great job to Kevin and Steve, RIT, and Acoustic Sounds!

Check out Up Around The Bend. There's some pot static for ya...

I've never noticed any pot static on Beatles or Stones recordings...

Well, how 'bout on the intro of "19th Nervous Breakdown"? :D

Anyway, give me pot static and console noises anyday ("Wheels Of Fire") over bad sound (almost any Stones Decca era).

I don't know what that is, but it's not a static-y pot. For one thing, the static is in stereo (on a mono track). Second, the (unreleased) stereo mix is clean as a bell there. Third, there were no pots being adjusted at that point!

Take a close listen to Bungalow Bill and listen to the punch in static at the beginning of every chorus.

Also check out the end of She's A Rainbow for some panning static.

There is some static in places on the CCRs, but not as much as on some other recordings. Some of it is faders and pan pots, some of it is pickup switches on the guitar themselves.
