I listen to most of my music on my phone whilst out dog walking.
By and large the quality on the BBC sounds app is better than SPOTIFY (I have premium).
In fact I have heard music - i.e. Ace of Spades by Motorhead that sounds great on the BBC app and on Spotify (the new re mastered version of AOS) sounds as awful as described on here.

BBC Radio 2 - The Rock Show with Johnnie Walker, Angus Young from AC/DC chats about their new album!
Above is my reference show (also contains a good interview with Angus Young).

This is quite common I find across a lot of music when listening on Radio. The compressed mess complained about on here either on CD / Vinyl / Streaming sounding OK or actually very good on FM / DAB / relevant radio app.

For the record I use a decent set of in ear Bose headphones (not noise cancelling but £120.00 worth). Well worth the money as they are miles better than the apple bud in ears.
