    Ah.

I'm not whining. It's not exactly unusual for me to end up with redundancies in my collection.

I'll just knuckle down and do what must be done. Looking forward to it.

Thank goodness I was satisfied with my original version. I wouldn't have been super happy to have bought it twice and NOW this gets released.

I might have missed it. But is there a track listing for the 3 CD set? I have the original 70 Fillmore East CD and did not buy the reissued CD. I'm in for the 3 CD set for sure!

  4. Any links to preorder yet?

    This is awesome.
We're just lining up to double down.
(Or triple, I suppose, in some instances.)

There's a track listing for the CD and the digital downloads - it should be the same tracks on the 3CD set but maybe a different order?

So... I am familiar with the 1 CD from it’s original (on the Dead’s label) release, and I was going to buy it anyhow but now I’m thinking about the 3 CD instead.

But.. What’s the deal with the different running times on the 1 CD vs. the complete (Complete as possible, I mean) recordings? “Statesboro” and “Whipping Post” appear to match up perfectly with their original shows. “Liz Reed” lines up pretty close with 2/14 too. But the rest?

I can only guess the 1 CD is “Frankenstein’d” on most of the tracks? Still fantastic, yes, but perhaps not so historically accurate?

Pretty sure all three shows circulate in bootleg form. Curious to know if those have the same cuts Bear’s tapes have? I’m sure the boots don’t sound as good, but I’m curious about all of this.

CD 1 is a remastered re-issue of the original CD which was itself a compliation from all 3 shows (likely to include tracks that were captured complete on tape). Discs 2 and 3 are the full sets, in order, warts and all (with some incomplete tracks due to tape changes). Perhaps a few of the longer tracks on the original release were composites made up of bits of incomplete songs?

  12. Any idea if the two disc set is being sold exclusively on Bears site or if this will be available in normal distribution channels?

If the 3CD set features what's recorded of every set as-is, then there's still value in the 1CD compilation. Not too shabby.

No, one of the 3 CDs is the same compilation CD as the already released single one. I am assuming the other 2 are just what was previously the hi res offerings now on CD. Note however they are pricing it as a 2CD set to take the sting out of those who bought the single CD. Below is what they say about it.

"The set will include the already-released compilation CD along with 2 CDs of the source material from all three nights; we know many of you already own the compilation disc, so to be fair to you early adopters, we priced this as just a 2-CD set. We know we can't please everybody, but we are trying."

That is the case. Outskirts of Town and Mountain Jam were composites of two different performances as neither of these tacks were captured in complete form.
