The Beatles 1 has been out almost 20 years now. If there were to be a companion album of essential tracks (called Beatles 2) what would you put on it?

Everything that made #2 on the charts?

Wasn't that the concept behind Beatles 1?

I did something like this and used the B-sides of the songs used on 1, and jokingly called it "2".

Cool. Thank you. It’s unfortunate they named it Beatles 1 by the way.

I'd call it "The Beatles +", just like the DVD some years ago.

I'd rather see a double 'Complete UK Singles A and B Sides' collection. All using the original 45 mixes, mostly mono. This fits on 2 CDs with space for the stray Bad Boy and original Across the Universe tracks as well as the Long Tall Sally EP.

The b-sides of the Beatles 1 singles, obviously.

This thread allows me to bang the drum again for my most-desired Beatles release: a 3-CD deluxe issue of all the UK and US Beatles singles, accompanied by a booklet with all associated 45 covers and an essay by someone knowledgeable. Front cover should be the whimsical portrait of the band by Patrick, seen in my avatar. :)

I think a second tier of hits/well known tracks could be:
    1. Please Please Me
    2. I Saw Her Standing There
    3. Twist And Shout
    4. All My Loving
    5. And I Love Her
    6. Rock And Roll Music
    7. Drive My Car
    8. Nowhere Man
    9. In My Life
    10. Taxman
    11. Got To Get You Into My Life
    12. Strawberry Fields Forever
    13. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
    14. With A Little Help From My Friends
    15. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
    16. I Am The Walrus
    17. Revolution
    18. Back In The USSR
    19. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
    20. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    21. Don't Let Me Down

While I don't agree with each and every song (I definitely would not include Free As A Bird and Real Love), that's a great set. Basically it's the best of the album tracks. i think it would be a moderate seller though nowhere nearly as bug as "1". But a very good compilation, nonetheless.
