Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Who, Hollies are my 5 favorite 1960's British bands. Yours?

For these purposes I'll consider Badfinger and Slade bands of the 1970's, despite the 60's start. (Or else I'd replace the Small Faces and Yardbirds with 'em.)

Like how you presented that... the first category wouldn't suit me, but I agree wholeheartedly with the second category...

The second category is much much closer bunched than the first. For listening, Little Games doesn't hold up to things like Something Else or Sell Out.

I agree with that... but I spin Five Live far more than anything pre-Face to Face or post-Sell Out... it's all relative...

the next five (and I'm keeping this first wave)
Zombies (in spite of their small catalog)
(Eric Burdon and the) Animals ( For their relatively large catalog)
    Hollies
Manfred Mann (All of the guys call her Flamingo)
Dave Clark Five ( Consider them like KISS. They recorded a lot of dross but their best is among the very best)

and then there's Herman and his Hermits

A fair thought. This Ugly American didn't have a complete Five Live until the Yardbirds Story box came out. Plus ... as you can see with my second post I'm factoring in depth of catalog, The Yardbirds only had three albums. One for each guitarist. I love the Zombies but it's the same issue is they only came out with two albums and god knows how many singles.

Of every British band I've seen live since the Animals in '83, the Creation was hands down my favorite... "Through My Eyes" was the most psychedelic thing I've ever heard live except for some Pretty Things SF Sorrow cuts...

I can't rank 'em, but here are the 5:

    Stones
    Beatles
    Kinks
    Who
    Small Faces

Small Faces barely edged out Floyd... actually, they change places in the top 5 depending on the day.:)
