Nope. He said that he was suspicious because it didn't have a price sticker or hype sticker. The one on the Roadshow doesn't have shrink wrap at all. Doesn't matter, neither of them are repros.

  2. I sez it'll go for $27,500 in the last two minutes.

The House of Guitars in Rochester,N.Y. has 3 copies moldering in metal racks near the top of their high, festering ceilings (this place is the epitome of disorganization). They have been there for years. I once asked about buying one and they said they were for "display" only.

    Sold for $26099!

Clearly some people have not been affected by the recession!

I wonder if the winner will rip open that shrink wrap. :D

And the winning bidder only bid once. Waited right until the end. I like his/her style.

If any of you had won, would you play it? Open it?

I would quickly relist it with a reserve of $30,000 and see what happens.

But I'm not rich enough to risk a new auction not meeting my reserve and leaving me stuck with the album; I'd have a $26,099 credit card bill coming due in a few weeks, and no way to pay it off! :)

This is purely a collector's item. It should not be opened. If you want a copy to play, you don't need the butcher cover.

    No chance.

At that level, it's a tangible investment, not a record. And a good one, when the case of these was unleashed they were only going for $7-8K apiece.

That would be like buying gold bars and melting them down for necklaces.

Question is: where do you store it? Safe deposit box?

  24. Well then, $26,099 it is.

Wonder how many automatic bids the winning bidder had set.

Within a 6 minute period near the end the actual bids listed jumped from $15,000 to $25,500 and all from one bidder.

Because that's what Perry Cox does for a living!
Theres hardly a record in this world that he hasnt bought and then resold at one point or another.
