I agree, my thoughts exactly. I definitely think John will be in October, but they could throw us a curve ball. Maybe Rubber Soul will be the Beatles release, which would be cool too. I prefer it to Revolver.
I missed that one... that must be #3 September- Ringo EP3 October John & Yoko STINYC Ultimate November- this! Thanks for sharing!
This time the next beatle release is unknown, unlike previous years. I wish it was "Revolver", but I don't think there is much unreleased material for 4 o 5 CD's. As others say, it does not fit with saving the money. I see more likely a release covering the post-Pepper era up to February 1968: "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Yellow Submarine". We will see if in September we know what it is.
I read a lot of negative things about the Past Masters sets. It's too much of this, not enough of that, where's whatever, why is this on it... It's exactly what it's supposed to be : a collection of everything not available on the original albums. In that sense it's as perfect as can be. And! It's a fine listen on its own.
' Beaucoups..' could have been great but as it stands it's just alright. My understanding is that Ringo was in a rush to get the whole album done in a few days. Don't know the reason behind the hurry but it was a bad move and it's reflected in how the album comes across. More time should have been allotted for Ringo and the Nashville cats to get it together.
From that article, I found this interesting article: Who's who in 'The Beatles: Get Back'? A guide to the non-Fabs They should've included something like this with the blu ray in addition to/instead of the 4 postcards
Howabout Ringo's All-Bar Band - same format, only this time with young rappers whose songs have been about raving drunks. "Waitaminute...I can't play a drum machine on these - there's no place to stuff me towels for that rich, muddy sound..."
It does what it’s supposed to do indeed. But there’s never been a single release of all the singles on one album before (red, blue, 1 come closest) and 30 years after PM and 20 years after 1 it’s been long enough that they can justify a new compilation .
Another compilation missing in action is an album of all the covers The Beatles did. Some of my least liked songs of theirs are the covers but it would still be a good collection.
That would be fun. Tempted to go toss that playlist together on Youtube and see what it would involve. The question: to live versions or not to live versions? It would be quite a set if all the covers from the BBC and Anthology sets were on there... I could see it starting with That'll Be The Day and ending with the Threetles' Blue Moon Of Kentucky...
This is the closest I found on the Get Back thread: THE BEATLES -"GET BACK" film directed by Peter Jackson on Disney+
