I've warmed up to Cucumber Castle over the years. Still bottom tier in the great catalog for me, but I do enjoy more than I used to. Will pull that off the shelf again soon. Last night I spun Andy's Shadow Dancing LP.
"Alan Freeman Days" is a great song. The line about Maurice just kills me ("...and my brother Maurice is staying alive...")
My fave album art is what's in my profile pic, I just really like it for some reason! It's an interesting time in their career look-wise, but I especially like the cover of the album. I love the campiness of COTW and Spirits, though. The simple fact that their NAMES are on their aviators jackets! And Still Waters will always be a favorite!
They had a lot of good album covers....and some not so good album covers lol. A few of my favorites include: 1st Trafalgar To Whom It May Concern Main Course Living Eyes High Civilization Still Waters This Is Where I Came In Best Of Bee Gees Their Greatest Hits: The Record The Studio Albums 1967–1968 Bee Gees Live On Air 1967-1968 (not an official release) Some of their gate-folds were great too. One of my favorites is from Life In A Tin Can. It's so strange and abstract, but I really like it for some reason lol.
After the earlier discussion about album covers I actually thought about some of my favorites as well! Favorite Album Covers: - Odessa - Robin's Reign - Trafalgar - Two Years On - Best of Vol. 2 (sentimental ) - Mr Natural - Main Course - Children of the World (agree with your comment) - Spirits Having Flown - Greatest - Walls Have Eyes - E.S.P. - One - High Civilization - Size Isn't Everything (again, agree with your comment about this period) - Still Waters Favorite Single Covers: - I'll Kiss Your Memory - One Million Years - Alive - Too Much Heaven - Living Eyes - The Woman in You - Fine Line - You Win again - E.S.P. - Angela - One - Ordinary Lives - When He's Gone (the one with Maurice holding his hands in front of his face - love this one) - All the Size Isn't Everything singles - Alone - I Could Not Love You More - This Is Where I Came In (I suppose that there were many variations of the single covers, especially in the early years).
Wow! Thanks for posting the Life In A Tin Can gatefold. First time that I see it. Reminds me of a few Tears For Fears album covers/concepts.
They are from the same photosession but they are not the same image. Barry and Maurice have basically switched positions.
I know this wasn't really released with the guys knowledge or permission, but the cover is still lovely to me: Inception/Nostalgia Karussell (Germany) Triumph (France) Inception/Nostalgia - Wikipedia Bee Gees - Inception Nostalgia
So I did! Listening to it now. I don't think I'd add it to my favourites list. I confused All That I Cherish with Cherish ... Thanks for pointing this out!
Bee Gees Official YouTube Channel has reached 2 million subscribers. A great feat indeed. Since Capitol took over the catalog in 2017 streamings and views on YouTube have increased substantially
On the one hand, this is an interesting cover/performance.... Puddles Pity Party, "I Started a Joke" by The Bee Gees - Skyline Sessions ....on the other hand, I HATE clowns lol.
Which is likely why limited reissues or anything more then another compilation and the kind of completest/fad color vinyl. They are getting their ROI the easiest way.
Very dramatic! But an interesting take on this classic. The performance is full of symbolism actually - this sad clown starting a joke...

Interesting article. I must say that I have never heard "Was It All In Vain" and "Your Love Will Save The World".
Percy Sledge recorded "Your Love Will Save the World" for his Blue Night album issued in 1994 (producer Saul Davis is a big-time Bee Gees fan). Bee Gees' own version should have had some form of release even if it didn't make it onto Main Course as it is a great recording and a favourite of mine among the unreleased recordings.
By July 76 the album had sold 1 million copies in the States. In Canada It was even bigger, bearing in mind the set reached number 1 and went 2 times platinum producing 3 top 10 singles in Canada, including the number 1 smash Jive Talkin. Nigths on Broadway went to number 3 according to Cria and Fanny number 9. Nothing short of sensational.
F.Y.I. If anyone is contemplating picking up the latest "unofficial" live release entitled "Bee Gees in Concert 1973" then I suggest you don't. Absolutely horrid mastering throughout. Save your money and go to youtube instead. Both the CD and the youtube clip share the same traits but whoever mastered the CD is by all acounts a unibrowed neanderthal... your ears will thank you!
