    This was quite a shock.

I'm flashing back to some of the Neil Young shows over the past decade where Ben would get up off the stool and play Danny Whitten's slashing rhythm guitar part on "Cowgirl In The Sand"...he was such a great compliment to Neil's music over the years. He seemed like a really laid back, cool guy.

From all indications, a good guy and a fine musician. Unfortunately, I bet Neil is taking it hard.

Which Neil albums and tours did he do?

Saw him in 2000 with NY.

  11. Basically everything since "Harvest" in 1972...Ben was a mainstay in Neil's band for the last 38 years!!!

This is very sad and unexpected news. Ben Keith was a superb musician and probably Neil Young's most ever-present and loyal musical foil over the years. I saw him several times in recent years and he was always fantastic. He was a big part of Neil's signature acoustic sound, so irreplaceable. Condolences to his family and friends. Rest In Peace.

Very sad news. I loved his work on Neil's albums. A vital part of Neil's sound on so many albums and tours. He will be missed.

    Sad news.....

I saw Ben last year with Neil, playing a beautiful butterscotch Tele and playing well I might add. As key to Neil's sound over the years as Crazy Horse IMO, his records won't sound the same again.

    RIP Ben.

Aw man! I always loved his pedal steel work for Neil. I feel blessed to have seen him play with Neil in person.
