Frances McDormand right?
Meryl Streep would like a quiet word...
Glenn Close is on the phone...
Dame Maggie Smith.
Toss Sigourney Weaver into the mix!
I say currently Meryl, Glenn, and Frances.
Yep. While there are some great women actors already being noted here, Frances McDormand pretty much owns the title at present.
+1 for Frances. She's been on my radar since Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, and of course Fargo. Oh, ya.
Certainly not to dis Glenn and Meryl. Or Dame Maggie or Helen.
Frances McDormand is in the conversation.
Judi Dench is another.
Nomadland on Hulu inspired this thread.
are we talking best actress currently doing their best work, or was great, i think meryl still at the top
Don't currently have Hulu. Here's hoping it'll eventually show up on Netflix or HBO.
Meryl will likely get the majority vote, but she doesn't do much for me onscreen. She is a great actresses, but there are many more actresses I find more engaging. It could be the characters she portrays or films she stars in. Comes down to preference I guess. "Best" is really arbitrary, but Meryl will win solely based on nominations and awards.
I have a free trail to watch Deustchland and I was glad to see it there.
hmmm she does a lot of fluff now so might lower her ranking.
Julianne Moore Annette Bening
Julianne Moore is just barely 60, not "over 60" per the thread title. If she were, she'd happily be on my list.
Although her propensity for offbeat roles might keep her from some folks' "best of" lists,
I would vote Meryl Streep. Another nominee: Judy Davis
First one I thought of, then Meryl Streep.
Isabelle Huppert, still on top of her game
Fanny Ardant, my longtive fav actress.
This is a 2018 photo, when she was 68.
You beat me to it, dang it!
