One thing's for sure - nobody will be buying any albums from you here in the classifieds anytime soon....

I can only assume it is. It's small droppings, and a roach is small enough to get inside of the sleeve; I'm pretty sure a mouse can't. They were in a peach crate leaning against each other really close, so only something small like a roach could get in there.

Eh, I don't sell anyway. I've only sold video games before, and only then about twice.

The rest of my records are very clean, and on a shelf. I don't live in filth.

Well, that sucks! I hope you can find some way to clean these albums up. Dealing with mold is bad enough let alone this.

Yeah, it sucks (mostly because they got in a copy of Zep IV; the vinyl is clean though, and it's a Porky/Pecko Duck 1841 Broadway), but the vinyl is what I'm concerned about. It's only 3 or 4 covers that got any on it. The rest I can probably take a can of compressed air and blow out the insides of the covers, just to make sure.

    OK, no hard feelings. :)

I just realized that probably half of all my total posts on this forum are in this thread. I kinda feel stupid for making it now.

I used to live in Florida and this was a real problem. Still have some roach-poop-marred covers. Don't feel bad, it's a legit topic. Fun, too ...

Funny enough, I live in Florida now (and my whole life, just due west of and was born in Jacksonville.)

Actually, I thought Bathory provided some very helpful tips, on the third reply.
I'm just surprised at the posts that seemed a bit drastic, more in line with what my parents would have said to me if I brought home some "tainted" LPs.

For what it's worth, as a kid I recall visiting one of my school buddies' house. It was a roach resort...where when you turned on the lights you'd see some cockroaches scampering about ..
As a kid it didn't phase me.

At his house, some books and things smelt kinda musty, but overall no more worse than one of those used bookstores or thrift stores that seem like they never sell anything.
Bottom line, healthwise, he was rarely sick, and I'd like to think I never experienced negative effects from any contact I had with those little critters.

So, having that general encounter with the bugs, I guess I would be OK acquiring LPs from that environment, after employing basic cleaning precautions.
    As the saying goes;
    YMMV.

Almost all of my roach poop was acquired in Gainesville, right down the road. Almost no roaches out here in L.A. if you keep it clean ... but the roof rats are no bargain.

    Hmmm, note to self:
Remember to avoid buying used anything from the state that used to employ Anita Bryant as the Citrus Commission spokeswoman... o_O

Been to Gainesville several times, mostly to watch football games. Only about 40 minutes south.

I don't like misconceptions about this state. We're no worse than any other.
